You are correct. I crunched the numbers yesterday and we pay 6 players well over half the cap, leaving an average of $1.6million TO SPREAD OUT PER PLAYER FOR THE 16 OTHER PLAYERS! SAME PROBLEM.

Great trade for Sather. Higgins is someone I’ve always liked as a player. He can score 20+ goals a year and to all you Betts fans, he is an excellent penalty killer. If we don’t trade Cally( hopefully)he and Higgins will light it up on the penalty kill! This McDunough kid is an outright Steal!!!!!. I wanted us to draft him in ‘07. He may be signed in time for camp and may make the team if there is enough room.

I hope we don’t get Heatly if it means trading Dubi or Cally. I would rather get a ufa.

Just remeber one thing about Sather. Sather giveth and Sather taketh away. So hold on to your hats because we will soon find out how mucheth.

damnit, i hope tomorrow is contact lens day at work so I can keep up with all the anticapted excitement of July 1!! It’d really suck if I knew nothing until 6pm cst!!

Higgins has been injury prone the past 2 seasons. and he is NOT an all out hustler like Cally. he is bigger and has good hands and can score, but he is NOT like Cally in the all-out hustle dept

giving up Cally would be idiotic. period.

Mike, as much as I don’t want to see Dubi or Cally traded the reality is that at least one of them would have to be moved. And honestly the Heatley is an upgrade in talent over either of them. Look at the East and you’ll see the top competitors have core players that are much better than Dubi and Cally.

come on sather, dont get dumped on all of a sudden b/c you have cap space due to the Gomez trade. stick it to OTT and get the terms right for this “supposed” deal.

exactly…Rangers fans have seen Sather’s work for almost 10 years now…and they think this move is “genius” and will lead to even more moves of “genius” this summer by Sather…unreal

if you’re just gonna replace Gomez’s $7 mill with Heatley’s $7.5 mill, why not just keep Gomez, WAIVE REDDEN and his $6.5 mill, and then bring in Heatley to play with Gomez? nah Slats knows what he’s doing!
