I would be willing to take Cheechoo in a trade for Rozsival.

I dont think we can go into the season with 3 rookie D-men though, so i would resign Mara if we trade Rozy.

I know this sounds crazy but … I’d like to see most of the Roster back next year.I’M GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF HAVING 7-10 NEW PLAYERS SHIPPED IN AND OUT EVERY YEAR !!! We need to develop some chemistry from year to year

I dont think we can trade Gomez, Drury, or Redden and i think low salary UFA signings is the way to go, so my next year’s roster would look like this:

Gionta – Gomez – Cheechoo (Awesome Potential Line)
Avery – Drury – Callahan (Smurf Line)
Antropov – Dubinsky – Zherdev (Russian Line cause Dubinsky sounds Russian to me. ha)
    Korpi/Sjo – Betts/AA – Orr/Byers

    Girardi and Staal
    Redden and Gilroy
    Mara and Potter/Sauer/Sangs

I dont think it would be wise to “rush” Grachev or MDZ just yet!!

  2. Worst of luck to the Detroit Ref Wings, the new Devils who’ve turned the game into one big interference fest. The crap trap is alive and well! Snore.

Go Pittsburgh! Even if they do own us.

  3. somerset – Brandor Dubinski centering Antro and Zherdev sounds like potentially a good Russion line to me, besides Alaska is closer to Russia than America anyway!!

If Grachev or Ansimov is ready i would throw them in, AA has dominated at AHL level so should be ready for the next step, Grachev would be more of a risk but if the kid has the tools and the desire give him a go – it would save us some cap space..!!

Can’t make the video conf but would be very interested to get Jane and Carp’s take on this year’s RFA’s and any free agent acquisitions, plus where the new guys and Hartford guys fit into next years roster…

  6. Id trade Rozi, Redden, Dreary, or Gomez for bottles of Hugh Jackmans piss. Then id use that piss to dump it all over Slats’ head !

    Go Wings !

  7. Shoryuken on Wade Redden: thanks for replaying my classic, shows I was pretty much dead on with my prediction huh?

And unlike you Ranger fans, I don’t hate on the Pens just because they beat us. Especially when it’s to cheer on the Detroit Devils, masters of dragging down the game. Frankly I want to vomit every time I hear some bitter Ranger fan cheer on the Ref Wings. Detroit’s the worst thing to happen to hockey in ten years. Especially the cheat Zetterberg.

I have no idea what happened to other Caps fans, maybe they’re out golfing with the Rangers.

  8. True fans bleed RW&B on

    Joke mchugh,
Your hockey sense is so misguided you must be Perry pearn or Glenn sather himself!

    Let’s go wings!
    Let’s go zett!

May be they are looking for new drug dealer together with your caps.
    Go away your pathetic looser.

  10. Jake, you apparently don’t know what a rivalry is as there don’t seem to be any in the Southeast.

Rangers fans don’t root for the Penguins, period. Wouldn’t matter if we smoked them 25 straight.

  11. im sorry these comments are hilarious on the live chat from the “real fake” people, lol.

  14. LMAO!!!

so, i am trying to get into chat… and all i got was a picture of Glen Sather!! lol

Funny quote from the Brian Burke, talking about a GM of the year award…

There was much of a substance to come from the meetings, which also included a session with team presidents in the afternoon.

The group decided to create a new award that honours the top GM each year—although they’ve yet to finalize a process for voting on it.

“Yeah, there should be one,” said Thrashers GM Don Waddell “There’s a player of the year and a coach of the year. I don’t know what we’ll call it.”

Burke had a few suggestions: Sam Pollock, Bill Torey and Glen Sather.

Imagine that??? The “Glen Sather Award” going to the top GM of the year???

I didn’t know Brian Burke was such a comedian.

  16. CCCP

    Yea its me comrade

    Re: rooting for Pens
I still hate Crosby and Malkin but I’d rather be buried in Crosby marketing-mania because they won rather then have it happen when they lose….thats more infuriating

plus I like Staal, Talbot, Letang and Gonchar

  17. kaspar

maybe you’re right… maybe there be less azz kissing if Cindys win… but i’d puke my guts out anyway!

Ill take a page from the book of great captain clutch and say this:

I won’t let Cindy ruin my summer!

  18. i was about to apologize for missing the live chat haha

didn’t happen? oh well. off to jones beach!

Wow. I could be the crazy one, but I don’t think Detroit has ever dragged down the game at all; if anything they’ve been the most consistant team in the league. And, are you seriously calling them the “Ref Wings,” as if they are the ones in this Stanley Cup Finals that are gaining the upper hand by questionable calls/non-calls? And, seriously, Zetterberg is the complete package offensively and defensively, one of the most under rated players in the entire league, and you’re calling him a cheat? Frankly, I want to vomit everytime I read your posts. I usually don’t post that often, but damn you frustrate me, because you actually think you’re right. Say what you will about our shitty rangers, because we all know they’re a shitty team that has no leadership, not one first line player, and don’t even get me started on the defense. That would be perfectly acceptable. But to try and get us to buy the whole Detroit-is-bad-for-the-nhl or the Detroit-gets-all-the-favorable-calls-from-refs or the Zetterberg-cheats nonsense, well that’s just crazy talk. But, who knows, maybe I’m the crazy one. All I know is, you frustrate me, and I wish I were a Red Wings fan. They are and have been the gold standard for the league for years, and for good reasons: Scouting, drafting, developing, picking the right FA’s to sign. All things I wish the rangers did more of.

  20. Jane’s looking hot today. Im loving the Rogue look. Carp’s bald spot is really distracting though. I keep getting the image of some kid riding those matchbox cars up and down the spot.

  21. im glad some of you had fun chatting with Carp and Jane… too bad i cant say the same for myself! :P

  22. Carp and Jane,

work prevented me from watching/participating live
but i just caught the chat.
    NICE JOB!

FANTASTIC RESPONSE to our pens-loving troll.

couldn’t have said it better myself.
Detroit has done everything right for years now
and the team has been playing an uptempo game for years.
the only reason that the team does not get any respect
is due to the Canadian bias against European players.
(not all Canadians but enough in the media and hockey fans to make a difference.)

  24. I don’t agree with Rooting for Original 6 Teams. Id never root for the Leafs, or the Habs. No way in hell. Bruins, eh, i don’t care, i wanted them to beat the Canes, and eventually the Pens, but that didn’t work out.

I hate Canadian teams just cause they get all the breaks. Fugg em !!!

    Go Wings !

  25. “You should always cheer for another Original 6 team.”

Ever since they blackmailed the NY Americans, Montreol Maroons, the original Senators and Quebec Bullgogs out of existance I’ve held the original 6 in the same regard as the origintors of the international Banking system….six crooks!!!

Not that they treated the Whalers, Nords and Jets any better…

  26. *It happened, and Captain Clutch was there.*

    …………………………………………….

No I wasn’t! Don’t believe the impostors! There’s only one REAL Captain Clutch!

  27. “No I wasn’t! Don’t believe the impostors! There’s only one REAL Captain Clutch!”

Just like Highlander, you have to find the others, and cut their heads off. Then you will have the power, you will win the prize !!! The power of mortality, to be one with all living things !! And to be clutch !!

There can be only one !!!!

  28. Josh Thomson on

As far as you know, do any of the players or coaches read the blog? Also what are you getting me for my 27th birthday?

    ——————–

so, i am watching the chat replay… and what do i see… another imposter!!

it is one thing to pose as a Captain Clutch… but it is completely wrong to pose as me!

one thing that gave an imposter away is his question above… 27th birthday? are you mad?

I AM JOSH THOMSON! AND I AM 26! ALWAYS WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE!

  29. Kaspar – You’re still deluded from your time on Pitt.

Jake McHugh – Interference hockey? WTF? Are you nuts? The Wings are a GREAT example of a franchise that builds on youth, incorporates them into a fluid offensive machine that is deadly from anywhere on the ice. That’s hockey. And it’s hockey fans should be more proud of than Bettman’s BS Penguin team…

  30. Carp and Jane! Thanks for the presents!!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait for next year’s beard competition!!!

  31. *“There’s only one real Captain Clutch!”*

*The one who was on the Sabres, the Avs, or the Rangers? Cause that’s 3 of ‘em.*

    ………………………………………………….

Rangers baby! Cup rings are nice, but they don’t buy Clutchmobiles! You know what does? $35 million Dolan Dollars! And I’m a 3rd liner! How could anything be more CLUTCH than that??? Ha-Ha!

  32. speaking of Peter Nedved… i bet, judging on just his history with the Rangers alone… he would’ve been a much better leader for the team if they kept him than whats his face…

  33. I’m still mesmerized by Sally’s beard. She should have won. Wait til next year.

  34. CCCP – Nedved?!!? Man, did you have some kind of mind altering chemical for lunch?

He’s the prototype soft Czech hockey player – no thanks!

    —————————————————

Have you actually watched any of the finals, Jeff?

    1. Zetterberg got away with palming the puck not once, but twice, inside the crease.

    2. Samuellson picked Malkin to set up a clear shot for the Wings first goal Sunday Night.

    3. The Wings first goal in game 3 came after another pick by a Wings player.

    4. The Wings second goal Sunday night came after Hossa hacked Dupuis’s stick leaving the Pens one man short.

These are all the result of non-calls that either prevented a penalty shot for Pittsburgh, or directly led to Detroit goals. The ref breaks for Detroit have all involved scoring plays, bigger plays. But let’s still talk about that Bettman-Pens conspiracy, OK?

And tell me the refs didn’t see the picks, the announcers pointed them out both times.

    Ref Wings is right.

    ——————————————

You don’t watch a lot of Detroit hockey, do you?

They’re basically the new Devils. Same trap, same clutches, same obstruction, same interference… the real skill is how they make it all so borderline, testing the limits of what they can get away with. Don’t believe me? Watch for yourself next game. Or listen to the announcers, who even talk about this borderline interference.

If that’s hockey, I’ll take tiddlywinks.

They should be prouder than Pittsburgh and their massively talented forwards program? Why, because you don’t like Crosby personally? You believe in that Bettman-Pitt tinfoil-hat conspiracy theory?

And finally — “fluid offensive machine”? Since when? The emphasis is on defense from second one. The Wings fans will tell you that, heck it’s all they brag about, their defensive emphasis. It’s Devils hockey with a couple higher-profile forwards, nothing more. Oh, that, and a goalie who’s been clutch in the playoffs year after year. But “offensive machine”? Pardon me while I chuckle.

  37. Jake McHugh on

P.S. In Detroit they like to brag about their “defensive forwards” like Zetterberg, who play defense first. Which is why he’s concentrating more on obstructing Crosby than scoring goals. So far it’s working, though Crosby has hit the post a couple or three times.

“Fluid offensive machine”? On what planet?

  39. run along Jake on
