Shamefully, because of Voros playing on the top line and Prucha being a healthy scratch, I am taking myself out of the lineup for tonight. I refuse to watch this game. This is the second time this year I have consciously skipped a game. This is the second time in my entire life that I have consciously skipped a game. I have NEVER been more fed up with my favorite team. I simply cannot watch Voros get meaningful playing time while Prucha sits out; I would actually be rooting against the first line and that is just completely horrible. Ugh. I’m not sure to be more ashamed at myself or my team. Sorry for the rant.

Renney says it’s back to square one and basic hockey and start building it over again. That’s the problem right there. You can’t keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results. The system is flawed. It doesn’t work. The power play had been bad for three years even when we had top goal scorers. The system relies on Hank to save everyone’s butt. As long as Renney thinks he can go back to square one and start over again with the same system, history will just repeat itself. He doesn’t recognize the need to change the system. That’s why he needs to go and Perry Pearn along with him.

This is the most embarrassing games of hockey i have ever watch. the rangers totally gave up in the third and did not show up for the final 20. they completely quit out there and that is irrefutable.
with that being said i am one of the few ranger fans that is in renney’s corner. i don’t think he is the problem as much as the players that sather has gone out and bought over the summer. no forward is near a first line player. no d-man is a first pair player. and despite all that, despite having a team of mid-level players they are ten games over .500 and currently the fifth seed. sather had a summer of follies. after losing their best player (jagr) he tried to patch up his line-up by going after naslund (a fine player but way passed his prime), zherdev (highly skilled but more flash than substance), and way too many 4th/3rd line players that can’t skate or score. And on defense slats overpays big time for wade redden, who anyone who knows anything about hockey could have told that his career was in the midst of a crash and burn.
for the line-up hes been given, renney has this team is over-achieving in my opinion. and yes they are struggling mightily right now but you’re never as bad as you look when things are going bad and never as bad as you look when things are going good.

The amazing thing about Sather is that he is looking to pick up Avery now when Avery will cost the Rangers $1.9M / year….which is just around the amount that Sather thought Avery was worth in his contract negotiations. Avery may have been a self-righteous pr*ck but at least the guy had some heart.
The saddest part about all of this is that Drury has a no move clause which binds him to NYR for the next 3 years. Redden…ha…no one would take him off our hands unless we’re ready to trade Dubi or Sanguinetti and 2 1st round draft picks. Gomez…thought the guys had some b*lls when he slapped around Kovalchuk earlier in the season but the guy doesn’t have a sack.
I feel for Dubi since this season must be a major letdown relative to playing with Jagr and Shanny. What a way to start a career.
It’ll never happen but the C should go to Mara who is the only guy on this team (outside of Dubi, Cally and Staal) who have any heart.

Here’s the plan: For all of you fortunate (or should I say unfortunate) enough to attend the home games, show these guys what a 60 minute effort really looks like. Relentlessly boo Drury, Gomez, Redden and, of course, Renney for good measure, until they beg out of New York, regardless of any “no trade” contracts they may have. If they’re going to take the money and continue to play like there are no consequences to lackluster effort, the fans should be able to get some form of payback by making them squirm a bit!

Torts had a decent offensive roster. Vinny, St Louis, Boyle, etc.
We on the other hand do have goaltending but no offense…so the teams aren’t that different.
One could easily argue that the Offense of TB under Torts is/was much better than what we have now. I’d take Vinny and St. Louis and Boyle over Gomez, Naslund, and Rozi any day of the week. Don’t forget TB also had Prospel, and Fedotenko
I would also take that offense over JJ, Straka, Avery, Nylander etc.

Renney needs to go, but so does Sather. Scotty Bowman himself could come in and coach this team and they would still not be a stanley cup contender. They’d have a better record, but no coach is going to turn this team into a Stanley cup contender.
As long as Wade Redden is our “centerpiece” $6.5 million dollar defenseman, this team is going nowhere. Scott Gomez and Chris Drury’s $7 million dollar salaries aren’t helping either.
This loss was a joke, an utter embarrassment. Please waive Redden. Gomez is better than that. Voros should be scratched for a month.
I honestly would rather watch AA and Bobby Sags (and Sauer too) learn the NHL game even if they’re not fully ready and struggle but give a full effort for the last 29 games then this junk.

Gomez-He had the two Scotts on defense, The A Line, and Fatso and a Selke nominee every year in Madden
Drury-Colo he had Sakic/forsberg/Bourque/etc/etc. in Calgary he sucked and they traded him and in Buffalo he had Brier/Vanek/Miller/Afiniganov/etc.
Redden-The three mustketeers Alfredson/Heately/Spezza and Norris nominee Chara along with Volchenkov/etc.
Naslund-Had Bertuzzi who beat up everyone who would touch him and everyone’s favorite Swedish twins (well, not really LOL)
point is; these are B+ players who all had partners or a supporting cast to hide their weaknesses. The Rangers only have Henrik and Staal at this point with great role players like Cally/Dubi and young works in progress like Zherdev and some very young guys like AA/Grachev and the D prospects but no prime time bona fide star or goal scorer.

It’s hard, but I hate to keep saying, “Who runs this team?” It’s so hard to figure out what the leadership chemistry is on this team and how “leadership” is executed on the ice.
I feel like there’s no sacrifice. Tonight against Dallas Zherdev was the best player on the ice. Cally played really hard…but who else? Damn, I bitched about the forth line but they played well tonight… Kinda.
Anyowho, I won’t lose sleep if there’s a new coach behind the bench. So far I can say that Gomez and Drury, as much as I love them as players, have zero leadership skills on the ice. I’d love to know what Gomer said to Renney on the bench halfway though when they were being hammered.
Fans want to see passion…we’re about one player away from that (cough, cough).
The “rebuild” concept was awesome at the beginning the season…no more focal points (Jagr, Avery, Shanny)....just a “solid” TEAM that would get us through the…regular season?. Playoffs? Stanley Cup?
The first quarter of the season they were the first guys to the puck. Every time. Now they keep backing up…and backing up…sigh.
No “enigmatic” Jagr. No “locker room drama queen Avery.” No “past-his-prime-has-been” Shanny. Just some new guys, a new system and Gomez and Drury….so…the Rangers leave Henrik and his backup out to dry every night. Watch the Penns and the Rangers swap spots for last place before the playoff birth.
I’m ALMOST thinking about…instead of spending $1,000+ on season tickets and just throwing a few bucks at Caps games…taking Amtrak once a moth to watch Ovechkin and Semin.

Stop going to the games…Notice Lou in NJ HAS to keep a winning product on the ice in NJ because they are not a draw without them being good…they still struggle to be a draw when they are good…but they cant afford to be bad and EVERYONE on that team is held accountable for their actions and if you don’t like it you are gone. The Rangers are nothing but a bunch of guys getting together at a country club. They have EVERYTHING handed to them on a silver platter…no accountability is held to anyone…I like Renney personally and I REALLY believe he cares about the blueshirts and maybe he should go back up to the front office but this team needs a pesonality overhaul (getting rid of the extra 3rd and 4th line players wouldnt hurt). They need to be held accountable for their actions or lack of…getting someone who is a hot head isnt really the answer either, look at keenan the other night in Calgary he slammed his stick and had a fit and they still lost 5-2. The players need to look in the mirror.

2) Why Orr didn’t fight Ott at any one of 5 occasions is beyond me?

4) The Avery news backfired and the team made a statement.
5) The team has given up on Renney. No doubt. They want him gone. I stopped watching at 6-2 (I had it DVR’ed). You don’t play like that and lose to those guys by 8 (when they were down by 2 at the start of the period) unless you really don’t give a crap.
6) Good chance FL and the Pens leap the Rangers and the Blueshirts don’t make the playoffs.

Dude, you can’t even include Redden with that list. He’s REALLY overpaid, but he isn’t any worse than Kalinin is or Malik was. It’s his contract that really underlines how bad he has played. But Both Kalinin and Malik before him were WAY worse than Redden. Also Rachunek and Ozolinsh were also much, MUCH worse.
That’s not to say Redden is doing well. Make no mistake, the guy sucks. But the worst ever? Hardly.

650 comments in one night is a definite record. Since I haven’t seen any of them, I will assume that about half call for Renney to be fired, 10% blaming Sather, 10% defending Renney, 15% commenting on the game, and the remanin comments directed at specific players.
My thoughts moving forward (as my thoughts about last night I’m sure have been echoed by about two thirds of the posts from last night):
1) Can there be any doubt that the team’s #1 priority this offseason should be to resign Zherdev?
2) Poor Valliquette. Next time LQ has to miss a game, he shouldnt ride the pine; they should recall MiiWii in case Valli gets destroyed. By the end of the game he was so defeated that he couldn’t stop anything. I would’ve preferred a shooter tutor instead of Valli for the last 10 minutes of the game.
3) We dominated the Thrashers by losing 2-1 in a SO? How would you describe what the Devils did last night?
4) Gomez was benched in the third. That’s a good first step. Let’s see if Renney will grow some balls and make him watch from the stands. Ditto for Voros, who was absolutely wretched.
5) How can Prucha NOT play at this point?? Honestly, could it get any worse than 10-2?
6) 10 goals in Renney’s defensive system. Just saying. Couldn’t resist.
7) If Florida keeps playing well and they don’t move Bouwmeester at the deadline, we’re missing the playoffs.
8) God help us if we take Avery off of reentry waivers like he’s going to be the solution to why this team lost 10-2. He’s just going to be 2 million in cap space were going to lose for the next 3 years. 2 million in cap space which could have been used on Zherdev or our other RFAs like Dubinsky and Staal in 2010.
9) I really like Dubinsky on the wing. Enough so that I don’t miss his great faceoff skills.

Hey, at least there is no “Quit” in this team. They didn’t leave the building after 48 minutes of play, they skated out the entire 60-minute game – like it was a waltz. a minuet or the ballet, sure, but at least they didn’t quit.
I don’t think Avery will be the answer to this team’s problems, not by a long shot, but maybe he will be a start.
The Rangers need a spark, some type of jump in their game because right now, they look dead out there. I must have watched a totally different game than Renney when the Rangers played the Thrashers on Tuesday because I didn’t see any dominance at all in that game (Maybe the last 2 minutes of play in the third were dominated by the Rangers).
This 10-2 loss shows that they just gave up in the third period, after the Stars scored the quick goal. Allowing three goals in the span of 1:10, then allowing two more…that has “given up” all over it. Vally lost his confidence and the defense disappeared.
The players have given up on this coaching staff. Either players have to be changed or coaching staff has to go. It’s that simple(I think a combo of the two has to happen). Renney and Pearn always talk about going to the next, forececk with passion, ect,ect… I NEVER NEVER EVER see this happen in the actual game. These players are NEVER held accountable for their actions (except Prucha). If Sather cared about this team and it’s fans (if) he would be in interviews for a new coaching staff. There are some talented guys out there who will talk about going to the next, forececk with passion, ect,ect and DEMAND IT every night from his players! That is the coach we need. With a strong coach Redden would have splinters at this point!
I just can’t help gloating, just a little:
My prediction at the beginning of the season would be that
Philly would be at the top of the division and Rangers would be scratching for a playoff spot. A bold prediction when the Rangers were in first by a wide margin, and the Flyers were in last by a wide margin.
Well, the Rangers will be clawing for a playoff spot, and the Flyers trail us by only 2 points with 3 games in hand. The only X factor was the Devils. Honestly, who thought they would be that good this year.
I also said that the Pens (most people’s concensus pick to win the division) were really overrated, and I was right about that too, although I didn’t think they would be THIS bad.
Also, just a thought: Does anyone think Renney’s bag skate emptied their gas tanks a bit for last night’s game?

I don’t think a bag skate takes as much of a toll as playing the night before like Dallas did.
I think what the bag skate did though was to finally be the straw that broke the hyena’s back.That bag skate will go down as the day the players finally showed that they have officially tune out Tom Renney and his renneyade.
Next time MSG shows us a clip of Sather and Schoenfeld in the stands, make sure one of them holds up today’s newspaper so we can make sure it’s not old footage.
What happened to our team leadership? They can’t even give an interview—the current leadership just sends the young guys out to take the heat. Jagr and Shanahan always took the heat themselves, but Gomez and Drury let the kids face the music. Occasionally they speak to the press, but they don’t like tough questions. That’s a problem.
remember this, with the exception of the cup in ‘94 , what we are seeing is typical ranger hockey.
There aren’t any winning dynasties in this franchise , never were.
