This is why Renney is horrible as a coach.

You could sit dawes or Sjos but he picks Korpi.

Did we practice the power play this week?

probably not.

How do you spell moron = RENNEY

Renney had little if nothing to do with the rangers making the playoffs the last two years. They made it in spite of him. If not for Jagr/Henrik and Avery two years ago the rangers dont make the playoffs. And how about how bad are powerplay has been for the last three years, that alone should convince you that Renney is a bad coach. You think other coaches would not practice the pp more and not switch the players used on that pp? And how about how many times this guy changes the lines. Other coaches may change lines during the game if something isn't working, but how many change the lines almost every game?

Who cares if the team makes the playoffs if u know they have no chance of winning the cup? Even worse, if they make the playoffs, nothing will change and dolan will just raise ticket prices again

"Broken record? Hardly—- every day brings fresh material for those who see Renney is in over his head. The only broken record I hear is the excuses that keep getting trotted out to protect the coach, no matter what."

Not every mention of Renney in a positive light is an abject
declaration of love and support. Every time anyone like myself or maybe Brandon says they don't think the coach is the biggest problem on this team, half this board jumps in with the standard "you're so stupid and blind comments."

It's actually kind of amusing, as most of these same posters don't really use any solid rationale to back it up except for the latest loss or turnover (two events that actually do happen to even good teams).

Do I think Renney is Scotty Bowman? No. Do I think he's Barry Melrose? Also, no. I haven't really seen the argument yet to convince me that he's that bad or that good.

I still view his getting the team to playoffs the past two years as a positive. In a salary cap environment, getting your team into the playoffs isn't bad - you've already done better than 14 other teams. Sorry, I'm a realist. Obviously, I want the Rangers to win the Cup but I don't have huge expectations with the current team Sather has assembled.

If the team misses the playoffs or gets swept in the first round, I'll reevaluate and probably view Renney in a more negative light. That said, I'm waiting till it happens before I pass judgment.

Brandon, not meaning to attack YOU in my last post, but my point is there are very few guys who perform regardless of circumstance.

If Gomez, Roszival, Redden, Dreary, and others are underperforming what we think they're capable of (and they are), we need to change their circumstance. The easiest and fastest way to do that is to bring in a new coach. The players can't get worse, the power play can't get worse, the annual results can't get worse, the too many men penalties can't get worst, can they????

Brandon,

you kind of proved my point by putting Kovalev up there. He was here 2x, and neither time did he light up the league. I'm talking about guys that are at the TOP, regardless of linemates, regardless of coach, regardless of their biorythyms, or any of that other stuff.

there are some nice players on your list, but I think at least half your list is guys with either a very short track record, or big performance gaps in their past.

Jeff Carter had 53 points last year in 82 games. Nathan Horton has never gotten more than 62 in a season. And Brandon Dubinsky has virtually identical career numbers to David Booth.

Those are the same guys you'd have Sather sign for 7 years at $50 Million bucks, and then complain 4 months later that they are busts!
