Pond hockey in Vermont

That’s how I’ll be celebrating the new year, which can explain the lack of updates here.

I’ll try to chime in when I can, but it will have to wait until after I overpower a mob of 6-year-olds on the ice. Hey, I have to feed my ego somehow.

Here’s wishing everyone out there a happy and healthy 2009.

  1. What ever. I guess kids are more important than fellow hockey fans. Some fan you are.

So how about them Blues, beating the Devils 2-1. Janssen threw a big hit at the end of the period. I like that guy, he’s so hot. Him and Orr had some great fights. That’s the kind of 4th liner we need.

  2. If you’ve never seen the movie “Just Friends,” it’s worth it for the playing-hockey-with-kids-sequence alone.

  3. Sam, welcome in advance to the Green Mountain State. If you’re still here (Burlington) on the 2nd, don’t forget the UVM Holiday Tournament.

  4. Oh the irony of someone posting with another persons name and calling themselves a troll.

What part of my pwning you really bothered you the most? Was it me being right about Renney? Drury? Prucha? The awful December I predicted?

Here’s more wisdom for you to suck on: Gomez steps it back up in the next month and comes up big. Watch and learn bitch ass. Again.

  5. I put a Messier guarantee on that by the way. Its not like i got anything better to do, this blog is my life.

Ill go on to say, Prucha scores 2 goals in the next game, and gets leveled by Ovechkin.

  6. Salty, hope you’re right on the two goals by Prucha, but no way would Renney put him on the ice with AO…. oh wait, is it an away game? Maybe nevermind…

Hey Sam – Happy New Year to you too…..and to all the faithful bloggers who make my day here….let’s hope things are really as good as they seem in ’09….Cheers!

  8. the real me is a New Jersy fan. We just won against the Blues. I am on here all day tormenting you Ranger fans.

bob you piece of shit stop posing as me and posting idiotic stuff like this.

  10. bob you aren’t fooling anyone. Your posts show a real cry for help espically when you post as graves.

Happy New Year to everyone here. I am hoping bob makes it his New Years resolution to get the mental help he very badly needs.

  12. To Brandon and Beer Me and jason and JJP and Jeever and Staal Wart and Lobster and any other true believer Renny follower I mighta left out …..

May the year 2009 prove the year of enlightenment!

(But know that I wish you Happy New Year anyway, even if it doesn’t….)

  13. Does anyone know if Maxoderm really works ? I saw the commercial on Verses. I need help in bed, badly.

  14. Hey Sam…I live in Essex, VT (2 miles from Burlington). Where is this pond/rink you speak of??? I’ve been living up here for 4 years & I’ve not been aware of one….except for one in Waitsfield.

  15. onecupin67years on

Sam . make the ice isn’t thin,
are the Rangers skating on thin ice?
    Happy New Year fellow bloggers

  16. Did we win last night?

Don’t want to dissapoint “true fans”. I thought he was gone. Didn’t think I’d see a post from him after a win in regulation. Goes against everything he stands for. “true fans” only bash their team. That makes them smarter and ‘better’ fans. But loyal? nah.

  17. I am no wd40 when it comes to killing Renney, but I can’t figure out why Renney has it in for Prucha. Renney talks about Prucha earning ice time and the fact that Prucha hasn’t consistently responded to “merit” more ice time (i think that’s his favorite word, and also “patient”)- Renney I gotta question for you: If that’s the basis you have for granting ice time than NOBODY should be playing because WHO has consistently played well???? Captain Dreary? Germez? Dubinsky? Beets? I can go on and on but with the exception of Dubie, he hasn’t benched anyone that deserves it according to his own criteria, yet he seems to have a different one for Prucha….What Gives?????

Happy New Year to all fellow Rangers bloggers, and wd40, at least make it one night that you don’t go to bed with a meat cleaver and a photo of Renney

  18. I’m happy this is the last day of this crappy year. War, Rangers loss vs Pitt in playoffs, JJ & Shanny gone, this board going from a fun posting site to a bitching forum, crap economy, my business being so slow that I have to work a 2nd job at night, good bye 2008.

Let’s hope 2009 shines. Rangers make a couple of moves, get hot in March and ride Lundqvist to the cup.

This is one of the few days where I can drink lotsa beers without the wife bitching about it. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  19. onecupin67years on

the only cup the rangers will drive us to is the one in our hands..” bartender another round ,please! hic”

  20. I could go for some good old pond hockey right about now. too bad i’m in NJ and nothing is frozen. enjoy sam…pond hockey: hockey like it oughta be.

  21. Hey wd40.
The tide is turning for me on Renney.
and how is Prucha gonna score 2 goals next game when he’s gonna ride pine. Remember Renney said he needs to score 3-4 a game…lol

  22. Penguins beat writer Dave Molinari fielded a question about Coach Michel Therrien being just an average coach in a Q&A published today and offered a candid assessment, including: “Therrien certainly has his share of critics — albeit surprisingly few, if any, inside the locker room — and some of his coaching methods certainly invite second-guessing. The best example probably is the way he scrambles line combinations when units aren’t productive after a relatively short time together. That’s a cornerstone of Therrien’s philosophy, but not an approach universally endorsed or practiced by his peers.”

  23. Beer me!

You know me, I never toot my own Yavornski horn, but you give me Malkin, Staal, Crosby, Orpik and Fluery down the middle????

I can go to K-mart here and gang together another 12-13 guys from their shipping departments and shopping lines and I will play .500 hockey man!!

  24. from daily news blog. if Drury said this several people here and Dubi of blueshirt bulletin would be all up in arms

“Yeah, I don’t mind it,” Henrik Lundqvist said of the schedule lightening up a bit. “It feels like after New Years, you start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, too. Always Novembers, Decembers are a pretty tough month, and then you start to see the end. I think mentally, that’s a good feeling.”

hey graves9 , sorry to say the Blues didnt win like
we would have liked last night

Don’t worry about it baby. Just bring the rubbers and all will be great.

  26. Li Joe

    Sounds almost identical to Drury!!

Maybe hank was quoting Drury and the daily news took it out of context??

  27. The difference is that Lundqvist is actually working hard, leading, and setting an example. Lundqvist is downplaying the fact that he can’t wait to get a break from carrying this team and this coach on his back for the 4th season in a row. Nice try though. Drury would be allowed to say such things if his numbers weren’t such shit.

  28. ORR i had wrong date on end of your sabbatical it’s friday the 9th not the 7th (good job in abiding by the terms of the bet albeit a bit late)

Orr – start your payment of your lost bet today. 2 weeks. so can start posting again friday jan 7th.

  29. I was wondering what happpened to Orr….I thought he fuggin quit the fuggin blog or some fuggin thing…

  30. kaspar – yes he lost a 2 week no posting bet. the others can start posting sunday but he “forgot” and started posting after about 3 days. don’t want him to be known as a welcher except when he bets body parts. so i’m keeping him informed. really wish he won that bet though.

  31. Happy New Year Folks!!!

    Here’s to a more consistent ’09…

    with more scoring…

    better defense…

and a powerplay that isn’t comically horrid.

    Best wishes!!!

  32. when they played san jose – salty made a bet with 3 people orr, greg? and another. if rangers lost the others had to stop posting for 2 weeks if they won salty would stop for same. well about 3 days later orr started posting again (being as teenager with other things on his mind). so rather than him being known as a welcher i reminded him of terms and what a full 2 weeks would be. better than when he used to bet his left or right nut when he posted on BB.

  33. “better than when he used to bet his left or right nut when he posted on BB.”
    LI Joe 12-31-08

    LOL!

I like Orr..he goes completly bezerk over Rangers!

  34. To My Fellow Rangers fans!!!! Here is to the Rangers getting their sh!t together in 2009!!!! Thank you all for making blogging here quite the great experience!!

  35. reminder the 1 pm game from wrigley tomorrow. football games are not good except the rose bowl tomorrow so no excuses not even the hangover excuse

  36. Cant wait to see Hawks drub Wings!!

also..NHL network tonight at 7:30 USA vs Canada juniors…maybe a non 13-0 game for once this week!!

  37. maybe but midnight be be only 9 pm if the person is in calif or 5 am if the person is in the uk. wonder if sam has any posters from australia

  38. If I can still figure out how to open lap-top and push keys at 12 midnite i’ll chime in for some Shanny debate…LOL

    Happy New Year gang!!!

  39. JJP –

Regarding your bet proposition, thanks for the offer and I am a gambling man who puts my money where my mouth is – in fact, for 15 years I was an obsessed horse player. Enough said.

However, I cannot make a bet which will force me to root against my team. I did that one time, and learned that lesson. Back in January of 1982 I made a bet on the NY Giants to beat the Phila Eagles in their playoff game. And I collected. The problem is I have been an Eagle fan all my life. Yet, for a few bucks, I sold out my loyalty to my team, in what proved to be Dick Vermeil’s final game as Eagles head coach. Boy, did I learn my lesson. You love a team, you don’t bet against that team. For a few hours I actually felt happy that the Giants, whom I detest with a passion, won that game. Now, years later, I still have to live with that poor judgement decision, on my part.

So I wil be rooting as hard as you and anyone for the Rangers to rebound in the second half of the season. Just wish, in the meantime, the stats I am keeping on the vairious teams would indicate that the Rangers have turned the corner. Over the past seven weeks, Philly, Pitt, and New Jersey have far outclassed our team. Something has to give. Let’s all hope it is in a positive direction, not more of this extended downward spiral.

    LOL.

  41. I have a question.

I have a bunch of autographed pucks by old Blackwaks players: 2 of Bobby Hull, 1 by Keith Magnuson, 1 by Denis Savard, 1 by Stan Mikita and 1 by Jeremy Roenick. They are all in plastic stands with a metal plate that has the name of the player. Are they worth anything?

  42. alex – more likely in chicago than ny. maybe should check ebay or craigslist but target chicago as your mkt

  43. All Hail King Henrik on

    Happy New Year all!

Here’s to better defense, more scoring and a few Lundqvist shutouts in the New Year.

Bob or whoever this is you are very pathetic get a gun put it in your mouth and pull the trigger. Geez maybe this board needs to be moderated a little bit.

I wont be able to wake up at 1 pm for that game. Im gonna have to ask my mom to wake me up, cause ill be sleeping until 5 if she doesn’t. I wanted to watch the Lord Of The Rings marathon tonight. Then spank my wank to some Showtime Midnight softcore pawn.

  46. Beer Me: I love you, Tom.

Tom: I love you too, Beer Me.

Beer Me: No, You don’t understand. I really really love you. I mean I love everything about you.

    Tom: Awwww.

Beer Me: It’s true! The way you preach patience. And mediocrity. And loserness. The way you play Kalinin. The way you play Redden. But I really love the way you show Dubi and Z who’s boss when they have a bad shift. That really makes me excited. Because when you don’t ask the same type of commitment from veterans like Kalinin and Redden and Drury and Gomez—–

Tom: Because they are Glennie’s boys!

Beer Me: —– it makes me understand just how much in control you truly are. How calm. How articulate. How far you’ve brought this team since the lock-out.

Tom: Yes, well I have to agree, Beer Me. I have done a fantastic job.

Beer Me: But let us get to your greatest effort: Prucha!

    Tom: Ah, Petr!

Beer Me; Prucha is the be all and end all.

    Tom: I have to agree.

Beer Me: Prucha is your masterpiece.

Tom: You are so perceptive! Because to bench a player who can ignite the crowd with his relentless work ethic — while simultaneously giving endless ice time to quitters like Redden and Kalinin AND selling the idiot beat writers who cover this team that I am a defensive-minded coach (whose system guarantees 20 scoring chances against every game!) — is one of my finest accomplishments.

Beer Me: You are so articulate!

Tom: Well, at the end of the day, to be quite honest, if I am going to identfy with what it means to be a Ranger….

    Beer Me: Oh stop, I …. I …

Tom: Quite honestly, at the end of the day, identifying w—-
Beer Me: (losing control now) AHHHH! AHHHH! AHHH! YES!!!!!!!

Tom: Beer Me, are you all right??

Beer Me: (in a moment, as he catches his breath) Yes, Tom. I am fine. Let’s spoon.

    Tom: Snuggle up, cowboy.

Beer Me: That’s the ticket. Um…..?

    Tom: (intuitive) Yes?

Beer Me: Perry says you have more to do with the power play configurations than he does.

Tom: Liar liar pants on fire!

Beer Me: (relieved) Good night, sweet coach.

    Tom: Goodnight, my dove.
