I loved Shanny when he was here, but its better for him to leave before he turned into a Messier. Although he had no problem playing 4th line minutes at the end of last season, I don't think he'd do it for an extended period of time. Messier couldn't deal with the fact that he was ineffective so he wouldn't give up playing time to younger and better players...which set us back about 5 years.
