St. Louis is very fast, and a defenceman has to be aware of that. All I saw today was that Kalinin does not really show much ability to handle these situations.
Why should Kalinin be given benefit of the doubt so many times? He didn’t look good in the pre-season either. If he becomes better that would be wonderful, but I don’t think he will, though it would not be the first time I’ve been wrong.

That’s 4? Not sure why you’d want Korpikoski sitting, but the other 3 I’ll give you. At the very least I think Fritsche should be in there instead of the Invisible Dawes..

I think Kalinin just needs to warm up a bit, as does everyone on the team. It’s way early. Kalinin although a bit scary defensively at times, does show flashes of brilliance, and has a good shot that gets through. He could prove to be a good addition to the team and I hope fellow NYR fans don’t write him off and boo him already.

BTW, Gomez was a turnover machine today, though he did win 85% of his face offs and had 6 SOG
