If JJ were to watch some game tape of his recent forays into the offensive zone (not talking about two years ago, talking about past season), would he still really be honest in thinking he should lead a team? It worked for a bit until every team in the league caught on to that watching-paint-dry setup and passing. Then they just said, this is great, so predictable. Then, they simply neutralized it and broke out of the zone with a step on our skating-in-sand offense. No speed mostly equals no surprise to the opponent's defence.
I don't want to watch Jagr controlling a Rangers' powerplay ever again.

I laugh and I laugh and I laugh when I keep reading (cuz I'm addicted) about Jagr and his place in the universe. Forget it, he IS the universe, he pretty much told us. At best, he should be back for one year, though I am completely ready to celebrate with fireworks and balloons and cigars and champagne if he is gone. BUT, if he is back for one year, there had better be a spotlight and accompanying microscope on Renney to make damned sure nobody is forced to watch another charade of El Prima Donna lollygagging his way through another season at NYR's expense.
What he said should not be news to anyone. I've read this guy like a book for years. Look at his heroic rising in the playoffs. Well thanks bud, but how come I saw you dragging your ass of the ice so slowly sometimes I think we got a too-man-men penalty.
It's all about drama with Jagr. If you like that, fine. I hate it. If he's back, he damned well better just bust his gut all the time. Hopefully he is put somewhere in the next day or so. Hey Jaromir, exit stage left.

This is a tough one, I'm totally torn. On one hand, I have to appreciate what Jagr has done for the team, but on the other hand, last year he definitely seemed a bit disinterested at times.

Frankly, I wouldn't mind him back as long as the genius coaches can find a way to get one or two rookies significant playing time. I'm not particularly excited for the next couple of seasons, this team isn't close to competing, with or without Jagr. Heck, maybe I just contradicted myself, I don't even know! I'm just torn.

They need to build around one guy first, and that is Hank. Maybe you can put Staal in there, but if you are going to play a defensive style, you need good defensemen. Having some of those will add more offense because there won't always be the absolute need for "Five in the picture" and can even lead to an odd-man rush. If I worked at Elias Sports Bureau, I'd see if the Rangers were, in fact, the team with the fewest odd-man rushes for the entire season.

What about Tverdovsky? The guy's only 31/32, can skate and move the puck. Might be prone to defensive mistakes but would be a better PP QB than Rozival and might not be too expensive.

He might be a better less expensive option than Campbell/Streit.

I’ll be honest, if Brandon’s man-crush is Jagr then Ovie is mine. Watching him play the game, he shows what it’s ALL about. Perhaps not the fastest skater in the world, but his combination of Euro-N.American hockey style with the hitting, hands, and a Kovalchuk like natural scoring touch make him the best player in the NHL and most dynamic to watch. It’s amazing anyone can consider calling Crosby the best in the NHL when this guy is out there.

......

Agree 100%. Throw in the fact that he seems "out of place" everywhere but on the ice, and it just gets better. So funny. Shows up in the NHL with that reflective visor blowing bubblegum and drinking coca-cola on the bench....and dominating. I read the guy met his chick on some website, just like every NHL star does. I've said this before but I'm honestly glad he's not in NY, I think it would ruin him. I'm going to enjoy watching this guy from afar.

Salty whatever your name is… you need a life. just from reading your posts, it sounds to me that YOU are obsessed with Jagr. ITS ALL YOU WRITE ABOUT. if your so anti signing him, then why do you wake up dreaming about him in your sleep??

.......

LOL this is really cute, what else would you like to talk about on 6/30/08?
"What do you think the schedule is gonna look like next season?"
"Do you think Lundqvist might get a new paintjob on his helmet?"
"Do you think Staal will change his number?"

Jagr gets talked about because he is THE STORY in NY hockey right now, fool.
