Big doings

Already things are getting crazy at least slightly interesting:

The latest:

<li>Scratch Barret Jackman off your list. The defenseman “signed an extension with St. Louis”:http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=230576&hubname=nhl

<li>Brian Campbell’s agent Larry Kelly told the Buffalo News “he fully expects the Sabres defenseman to be traded by the deadline tomorrow”:http://www.buffalonews.com/258/story/284850.html. To answer your question, no, I don’t expect the Rangers to be involved.
<li>Peter Forsberg is back in the NHL “as a member of the Colorado Avalanche”:http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=230555&hubname=nhl. Not only that, he is a member of the Charlie’s Chiefs fantasy league team co-owned by myself and Zipay.

I have to give Zip all the credit for this. It was his master plan for us to pick up Foppa, Scott Niedermayer, and Teemu Selanne in the off chance any decided to come back to the NHL this season. Now we’ve got all three. If anything, I’m starting to wonder if Zip made a covert trip to Sweden to coax Foppa into returning.

Hey, when you’re dealing in the high-stakes world of fantasy league hockey, with tens of dollars on the line, you have to go the extra mile.

More later…

To answer poster “Crazy” from the last thread, we root for Philly tonight, because Buffalo is more dangerous to our playoff hopes than Philly, who I view as basicaly dead in the water.

  2. It’s a shame Buffalo management can’t keep their players…Sabres fans are realy ygood fans…crowds gather outside the arena during playoff games and tailgate…Linday Ruff is a great coach…yet they can’t keep anybody there…the NHL needs franchises where the fans are passionate as they are…As a fan of the NHL I hate to see things like that

  3. Emery’s a head case. Perfect rep for that team. Talented, but doesn’t know when to show up.

  4. Doodie:
that is unless philly can pick up a player or two by tomorrow…losing Gagne will hurt them quite a bit…maybe we can trade them malik for hatcher…. :)
apparently sather is offer bourret for shremp…that is actually probably a fair trade…there is no way to include a nhl roster player for an ahl player

  5. What do people think about Mats? Personally, I think it’s sort of cool that a guy stick it out with his team. But, in this day and age, it may be selfish or unrealistic. Anyone have strong thoughts either way?

  6. agree, and what’s worse is that Campbell offered to take a 5 year, $25M contract at the start of this season, but buff mgmt. refused.

now, they are offering him almost $18M for 3 yrs, but his agent wants 5 or 6 years, because he is only 28

it shows Golisano is not willing to keep a good team together.

  7. Doodie Machetto on

Damn it. That’s two guys that were on my FA target list that were resigned to long term deals. The other was Trent Hunter.

  8. Chris:

I’m not happy with Mats not wanting to leave Toronto. Why wouldn’t the guy want to try and win a Stanley Cup somewhere THIS season? He’s not getting any younger.

Do I respect his decision, I guess, I’m not on his team nor do I know the man, but if thr Leafs could get something of major return back for him, I think he should listen to it.

That being said, I don’t see the LEafs going anywhere. They were good three seasons ago, when Carolina won the Cup.

  9. stupid question do any trades usually happen over night or will nothing else happen till tomorrow?

  10. Doodie Machetto on

When Dom Moore is putting it away, it’s time to make a switch.

    Expect Gerber in the 3rd.

  11. Hockeyman Rangers #2 on

Sam are you trying to give me heart attack I thought the Rangers had some “BIG DOINGS”. I will be surprised if NY picks up anyone.

  12. Doodie Machetto on

Mats doesn’t want to win as a playoff rental.

That said, he would’ve increased his chances of winning in Toronto if he left and went back at the end of the season. Toronto would get paid, and still keep Sundin.

    But, I respect his decision.

  13. Jackman signs extension with Blues

Barret Jackman won’t be going anywhere at the trade deadline as the St. Louis Blues have signed the defenceman to a contract extension. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Barret has been a staple on the blueline for the Blues since his rookie season,” said Blues General Manager John Davidson in a statement. “He logs plenty of minutes per game and will continue to be a key part of our team as we move forward.”

“I have said all along that I wanted to remain in St. Louis,” stated Jackman. “The Blues drafted me, I met my wife here and I want to raise a family here. I’m excited about the direction of this franchise and love playing in front of Blues fans.”

In 58 games this season, the 2002-03 Calder Trophy winner has two goals and six assists along with 63 penalty minutes.

The Fruitvale, British Columbia native was originally drafted by the Blues as their first round selection, 17th overall in the 1999 Entry Draft.

  14. for a team to really give up anything good for Sundin at his advanced age, he would have to sign with the new team, and that would end his days in TOR

  15. As far as Dan Boyle goes.

If Sather can trade Montoya and Prucha for him then get him, if he is willing to sign a three year deal, nothing more. I figure Boyle has 2 strong seasons left in him, after this one, before he begins to slow down, so the Rangers can give him one more season.

If the Rangers had Boyle on their blueline it would instantly make their power play better, which could give them one more goal a game and win them games in the playoffs.

If Tampa wants our #1st round pick, then I would have to see how deep this draft is supposed to be.

I look at like this: On offense, the Rangers have a nice group of young forwards, with Cherepanov and Anisemov as flashy forwards, plus our forward roster right now.

On defense we have young, good talent in Sanginetti, Staal, Toots, Girardi and Sauer, we could use that veteran, puck moving defenseman to teach our kids.

In net we have our goalie.

This is a decision that Sather can make that can have real impact on the team now and in the future.

I make this move for Boyle, if it costs us Montoya, Prucha and #1, but I would ask for a 2nd round pick in return.

  16. Doodie Machetto on

dave, at his advanced age? For a rental, age doesn’t matter, performance does. And Sundin is having a great season, and he has always been good in the playoffs. He would’ve been the best player on the market, period. Better than Hossa, better than Boyle, the BEST player on the market. The only thing is, he would clearly be as a rental. I think he would easily get a 1, 2, player, and prospect.

  17. what I said was, he would not bring much in return UNLESS he was willing to sign with the new team. that is what I said.

  18. a lot of teams have hopefully learned from the bad deals of last year, like Forsberg and Guerin being rental flops who cost too much in return young players and picks

  19. Doodie Machetto on

dave, I disagree. I still think he would’ve potted that return. Imagine if you’re Detroit and you pick him up. I’d say you’d be pretty solid to win the cup, because despite your perpetual flops, sundin is a proven playoff performer, and would mesh instantly onto your team.

  20. look at the kuklas site. you have Gm Holland bemoaning the fact that he even gave up shawn matthias last year for Bertuzzi. so, I say again. he would only give up bigtime youth IF he has Sundin staying around for more than 3 months.

  21. So annoying that neither Buffalo nor Philthy can win in regulation and so each get a point. Someone deserved a big fat zero out of this….

  22. “Young D-man, eh? Could be Kaspar’s shot”

Hey Comrade Chris F….I’m banging it up in St. Pete baby….leading team in Penalty minutes ( I led after my first ten games!!)

As far as Toronto situation; this is nothing more than a mini-coupe de tat orchestrated by the evil Darcy Tucker; he gets all the fat contract-no trade claus guys together and says, “hey, the GM is gone by summer, the coach by April..we’ll all still be here!! Just say NO”..next thing you know; Kaberle says no, McCabe gets cranky, Sundin says NO and he will re-sign. Then Tucker takes a shot of whiskey, trips on a roll of tape and he’s out 2-3 months

  23. I found a statistic that is a little unteresting.

Take the top fifty players according to their cap charge. Then take their total time on ice this season. That is, I suppose, a fairly simple account of how healthy, and all things be equal (a long assumption) productive. The assumption is that players who are not productive don’t earn ice time, and coaches (I assume) have metrics that go beyond points.

So, you have the cap charge, and their total time on ice. For forwards, the average total minutes per million dollars of cap money is 184.

The number one player for this statistic is St. Louis with 271 minutes per millions of cap dollars.

Want to guess who is second, with 265?

  24. if you are trying to say jagr, you are full of it because of both the NYR and Wash both paying him. so that is just lying with numbers, pal

go by total SALARY and bonuses per min TOI, and then you are giving honest appraisals.

  25. Ah, but since when has business been about honest appraisal? The fact of the matter is, the Jagr tade and its stipulations was a financial recking ball. Jagr is second in the league in respect to total time on ice per his cap charge to the Rangers.

Say what you want, but for the Rangers to give up on that, would have been insane!

If you want to look at total salary, which, in a cap league, is less relevant than the cap number, Jagr is below average. However, he does have a pre-lockout insane contract, is 36 years old, and has recorded total ice time a little less than Joe Thorton and Marion Hossa, and a little more than Ilia Kovalchuk and Olli Jokinen.

If the Rangers had signed Jagr to a contract that paid him his cap number, it would have been just as insane. Why is the current situation (4.9 here, 3 something there) different in any respect to the Ranger’s signing Jagr to 4.9, and the capitals paying Bobby Granger 3 million to be their seventh defensemen?

  26. The Lightning on Monday night signed defenseman Dan Boyle to a six-year deal thought to be worth $40-million.

    So, well, that’s out.

  27. for all you guys who think Dan Boyle is Bobbyr orr or even Brian Leetch in his prime you are delusional. And his asking price is a joke.. The guy is 5 ’10 D man going to be 32 in a few months, he wants 6 yrs.. at $6 mill per, that is insane, if he was Dion Phaneuf it would be a fair deal…….

  28. Isn’t it amazing how year after year the experts never predict one single trade that ever gets made?

Ecklund is saying how he mentioned this trade (Prospol for Picard) earlier today..I didnt see that mentioned!!

Hockey has the worst scribes and worst TV analysts of any sport..Milbury? Ferguson? Cherry?

  29. how about getting Hal Gill??? For a 5th or 4th round pick, his contract I think is up at the end of the yr. he is big and slow but big, he would add D depth for the run and he is a but nasty I think…

  30. and you wonder why tampa doesnt do well…4 players with a salary hit of 40-42 mil a year? and that doesnt even include a goalie? wow and people say slats doesnt know what he hes doing!

  31. Joe:

So you saw one line from my post, and it confirms to your preconceived notions, and your intelectually satisfied.

I am sad because I had thought the point was interesting. But since that doesn’t seem to be the case, I’m sorry to have bothered you.

  32. What’s the deal with Wade Redden?

He’s an UFA. Ottawa of course will be going for it all this year, but wasn’t there some issue with Redden and the team earlier this season?

  33. Redden refuses to waive his NTC. Simple as that.

Can’t someone pick up the phone and make something happen?

  34. crazy/nyr, this pretty much means richards is gone…so it will be 3 players tying up approximately 19m of cap space. not a bad deal when you consider how good those three are.

  35. i dont blame any of these players with ntc to not waive them…why else would they have them put in their contract?

  36. true, but they need to get a number one goalie for richards…and i dont see that happening….but hey thats good for us right?

  37. well they need a goalie, but you’re not going to get a #1 for richards. rather, free agency.

    available:
    huet
    halak
    theodore
    leclaire (rfa)
    kolzig
    dan ellis

there are others, albeit likely backups on most teams.

  38. well they might be able to pull emery from ottawa for richards…not sure if ottawa is after him though,…if they lose out on hossa they might…

ok and for what its worth, why is hossa such a hot rental item? he sucked huge against the rangers in the playoffs last year….didnt we shut him down completely? and in ottawa he brought nothing in the playoffs…i would avoid giving up anything for him…unless i was pittsburgh..hossa and crosby could be sick

  39. hossa went through a pretty rough stretch in that series where he was just invisible. he’s really turned it up as of late..he’ll be a good rental for a team that can work the puck down low. i see the flyers as a perfect fit to his game, but thankfully they don’t have the assets to get him.

  40. I don’t understand the Tampa Bay financial situation. They are seventh overall in attendance, ahead of Detroit (8) and the Rangers (11) and Anaheim (15), and say they lose money hand over fist. Do they give away their tickets? There are bodies in all the seats every game.

I think Davidson, the outgoing owner, is simply more interested in his Pistons than the Bolts. The incoming owner, the guy who made the Saw movies, is coming in with enthusiasm anyway.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/attendance?year=2008

  41. the lightning do give away a ton of seats. i’m sure not enough to justify those attendance numbers, but i did get my rangers-lightning tickets for 3/15 for free in the 100s level. same with the game back in november. they fill up those sections with college students who can get the best available tickets two hours before the game for free. i’m not complaining!

and if dubi leaves, i’m leaving too.

  42. Okay, I thought Boyle would have made a nice addition to the PP, but those numbers are pretty stunning. Too stunning. Good on him, I guess.

  43. If i were Boyle i’d have a clause in there saying that if the Bolts don’t acquire a top goaltender for next season that he can be traded..!!

I can see Sather trading for a lesser known D-man now that Boyle and Jackman are off the market and Blake seems to want to go to the Avs. I like Liles, a good puck mover, but he doesn’t bring much in the way of a physical presence.

On another note, if we continue our good run through the next 5 games (Phi, NYIx2, BOS & BUF) we could do some serious damage to the teams below us in the standings and set us up for a challenge for the division lead with 3 games vs Pit and 3 vs NJ in the last 3 weeks of the season.

    Is Jovocop a Ranger yet?

  44. VOGS – You figure Boyle has two strong seasons left in him, so you favor trading Montoya and Prucha to get him. And how many strong seasons do you figure Montoya plus Prucha have left in their careers? The answer could be a combined 12-18. Sather thinks this way, too, and that is why the Rangers can never catch up with the elite teams in this league, he is always trading Cadillacs for Chevys.

  45. The only thing that bugs me at all about this year’s trade deadline is not the idea that Sather will give up the farm – he won’t (maybe Prucha heads out of town to LA for Brad Stuart but that’s about it), and its not that the Rangers will do something stupid like overpay for a rental when really as an organization (and largely due to the excellent in-house depth they’ve developed and grown) they are clearly on the upswing long term.

The thing that worries me is that I still absolutely see the Rangers as a team that will be able to come out of the East this year. But Montreal acquiring Hossa and basically giving up nothing for him (Ryder might as well be a healthy scratch) is definitely worrisome. I don’t think the Rangers should pursue the guy especially with Sather expected to sign Jagr for next year.

  46. From what i was reading Sather wasn’t interested in any of the big-name free agents unless they were willing to negotiate a contract extension before agreeing to the trade – which in my opinion, is good from our point of view in that he won’t give anything away just for a rental player.
But, like you say, Jagr seems set to stay and if we can sign him on a cap-friendly deal next year then he can keep the opposition top pair defensemen occupied for another season. I think Hossa would be a great addition though….

  47. doodie – holy crap, thank god I didn’t pick up emery(fantasy) before last night. haha Now it looks like Gerber could be the guy.

Kinda glad that Boyle resigned. I think he’s a fine player, and would surely want him on my team but a little high priced under a cap.

    Wanted Jackman. Oh well.

I’d still like to see Liles in NY. Hal Gill too. Of course only for the right price.

I think Philthy could still be active in the market. NJD, who knows. Garth Snow always like to f*ck with his team too. My point is, if the rest of the division improves, and we stand pat, I don’t like it. I really see no need to bring in any forwards. Rather, deal 1 or 2 for a/some dmen.

  48. Oh yeah, and/or Boynton (as zip brought up). We should have been actively pursuing him last time, when he was a UFA. Maybe we were, who knows?

  49. I would hate to bring in Jovo with that horrible contract but lets face it, in the playoffs the rangers have to be more physical. Pitkanen, Liles and to a lesser extent Hainsey would definately help on the puck movement side. Blake would be an ideal rental.

  50. Rob Blake has said he won’t waive his NTC, but it’s believed that he would to go back to COL.

Jovo @ $7mil is insane. Let’s hope slats doesn’t owe Maloney any favors.

  51. Doodie Machetto February 26th, 2008 at 7:44 am

“Zip thinks the team is hot for Hainsey and Liles.”
I saw on the show press box Sunday Stan Fishler saying the rangers were going to get Hainsey. I am really glad boyle signed, I didn’t want him.

  52. Ok, I’m listening to the streaming broadcast from sportsnet.ca

Trying to listen all day, but it’s hard at work. So anything I say is coming from there. So that my source is named.

Kypreos is saying that the Richards deal to Dallas is far from done. TB hasn’t asked him to waive his NTC yet.

ATL asked Hossa not to come to the a.m. skate

  53. Guys – i was only joking about Jovocop..!! His salary is too prohibitive.
I don’t think we can look at defensemen in that range with Hank, Drury and Gomer taking up £20+ million. We’ve got to be looking to add cheap or mid-range defenseman. This is why i think Liles would be a good addition.

Hainsey has 28 points in 61 games (7g13a on PP), is earning $900k this year, sportsnet.ca says he is a good puck mover with mobility, size and reach but, he is a bit soft for his size.
Liles has 23 points in 62 games (2g13a on PP) and is earning $1.4m. PP quarterback, only issue is lack of size 5’10, 185lbs.

  54. Gainey doesn’t want to give up Higgins in the deal for Hossa. Also won’t make the deal unless Hossa will sign long-term. Kovy went there a few years back as a pending UFA and resigned. Gainey wants to deal AHL players. Their ‘a-team’ won the calder cup last year, so they’re deep. MTL still the front runner. They cancelled their a.m. skate today.

  55. Doodie Machetto on

Isles resign Comrie, 1 year 4 million.

    “£20+ million”

Actually, wouldn’t it be closer to £10 million?

  56. This kinda does make me thirsty for Hossa. I’ve said it before, probably not the best move for the Rags, but he is one of my favorite players in the NHL to watch… and he’s probably one of “the guys” that could be ridiculous along side Gomez.

Anyone else feel like we wasted Gomez big time this year without someone who could actually run with him? F*ckin Jagr, I can’t believe we’re going to resign him. That means another year with Renney here smoking him off, and without Shanny in the locker room to balance things out, You’ve got a “quiet leader” in both Jagr and potentially/likely, Drury. Lame. I would love to see Gomez emerge as the real hero here.

Gomez could *potentially* go into the HOF as a Ranger. How big of an FU to Jersey would that be?

  57. Doodie Machetto on

I’m glad Boyle resigned. I’m glad the Rangers aren’t players in the Hossa sweepstakes. I really want them to either stand pat or deal Malik and a bust prospect like Jesssiman for another defenseman. No other deals will be acceptable to me unless we are literally ROBBING the other team.

  58. Nasty1, there are 24 watches on that link. Do you have one that you like or are you asking about the style?

  59. Doodie Machetto on

One defenseman isn’t going to win us a cup. End of story. Why get rid of our valuables for something that won’t get us our goal? There will be defensemen available during the offseason, either through signing, or if need be, trades. But either way, there’s no reason to pay so much in a trade now for something we dont need immediately.

  60. Salty that is classic. Ha, have to love the Casio. I like a nice metal band. So I guess all the ones with metal bands. I am kind of liking the one with the brown face.

  61. As inept as Sather and Dolan are (resigning Jagr to play on the first line is inept), the Buffalo and Toronto GMs give those two a run for their money. Why would you give McCabe, Tucker, Kaberle, and Kubina NTC? And Buffalo should have had Briere and Campbell locked up to 5 million dollar deals for the next five years. Really sad.

  62. Nasty1, I like the look of the brown faced or the blue faced watch. I myself am a black and silver face guy when it comes to watches but that is me and your wearing the watch. There is a lot going on in the face of the watch but it does look nice.

Keep the Tuna away from the watch…;)

Now back to hockey trade talk with a lack of trades.

  63. The Rangers are not going to do anything big today. We might go schremping or possibly get a dman. I don’t see anything else going down.

Now, back to the watch. Anyone? Anyone?

  64. Check Out Pierre Maguire’s picks for the Cup and his little comment at the end of it:

Pierre McGuire: 1. Ducks; 2. Stars; 3. Wild; 4. Pens; 5. Rangers. “Brandon Dubinsky is going to be a big time playoff performer.”

  65. That Tiffany watch is nice, but damn, I don’t have that much money. I have a connection at TAG and at Oris. So I usually get watches from them. Usually at a nice 65-70% employee discount. Ha.

  66. “Doodie Machetto February 26th, 2008 at 10:00 am

I’m glad Boyle resigned. I’m glad the Rangers aren’t players in the Hossa sweepstakes. I really want them to either stand pat or deal Malik and a bust prospect like Jesssiman for another defenseman. No other deals will be acceptable to me unless we are literally ROBBING the other team.”

    Totally agree!!!!!!

  67. God bless the Nhl Network. I dunno how I ever lived without it. As far as the Posts suggesting the Rangers might be after Pitkanen please God no… The guy is soft, error prone and injury prone. In other words he’s a younger version of Sandis Ozolinsh.

  68. anyone else feel like nothing is going to happen today?

i’m just hoping malik is finally on his way out, but i’ve got a gut feeling that its going to be a slow day for the blueshirts.

  69. Doodie Machetto on

Dude, if McGuire picked us, then we REALLY have no chance. I bet we won’t even make the playoffs if he thinks we can win the cup.

I fucking hate that guy and the whole NBC broadcast crew.

Except Emerick. Aside from his whiny voice, he calls a good game, and he gets excited for both sides (something that a lot of announcers don’t do). I know a lot of you are going to disagree with me on that, so I’m just going to preface that this is my opinion, and nothing you say will convince me otherwise, so don’t bother arguing. Just say you disagree, and leave it there.

  70. “Anyone else feel like we wasted Gomez big time this year without someone who could actually run with him?”

Not really. He’s still on pace for an above average season for him. I dont get why people expected him to come in here and get 100+ points when the most he’s ever had was 84 two years ago. His average season would be around 60-70 points, Drury’s average season would be 55-65 points. For some stupid reason many people thought they would come in here and be offensive powerhouses when they career numbers don’t prove that. Although, I feel like if put with the right person here in NY, Gomez might be able to reach 100 points since his game is more open, but I wouldn’t say we wasted him this year.

  71. Doodie Machetto on

“but i’ve got a gut feeling that its going to be a slow day for the blueshirts.”

Yes, yes it will. I’m glad. Slats is playing REALLY hard ball. You know he made a call for all of the big tag guys, but he probably offered them almost nothing in return, which is why we aren’t players at the deadline.

Our best bet to improve is to give our youth more experience, cut some of our dead weight, and bring in improvements on defense during the offseason through free agency, or if the right opportunity presents itself, through trade. The offseason is better for trades for 2 reasons:

    1) Less cap concern because of being allowed to be over the cap.

    2) Prices are more reasonable because there is less competition and not an immediate need to deal.

  72. doodie – I can’t believe you like emerick. you make me sick sometimes. honestly.

I heard the maguire thing to. Who cares who picks who? haven’t we learned that already with SI’s pick for us to be in last place 2 years ago?

  73. I agree, I don’t mind Eddie either though. When its Doc and Eddie in the booth its pretty good. Milbury is a joke with his comments about Russians and the fact that Jagr doesn’t care about life anymore and Pierre knows hockey, but hes so annoying. Hes much better on TSN in the booth but still kinda annoying.

  74. I was kind of hoping the Rangers might get him. He is nothing special but he hits will fighs and is okay at moving the puck. In other words much better than Malik or Strudwick.

  75. going back to that dubinsky question. who would i trade dubi for?

gaborik…he was rumored to be on the block a few weeks ago.

after him i don’t think theres anyone available that would be a smart trade for him right now

  76. Doodie Machetto on

Rob, what do you trade to acquire Pronger? The point is, Anaheim would want some package I wouldn’t be willing to pay. I mean, think about what it would cost:

Staal, Tyutin, Sanguinetti, Dubinsky, Prucha, Montoya, Two first rounders, a second, and a third.

    I wouldn’t make that deal.

  77. Gaborik is ALWAYS hurt, I think Dubi is just going to get better and better. He is untradable in my book.

  78. Doodie Machetto on

Salvador sucks. That he got him for a song in Cam Jannsens is one thing, but let’s not kid ourselves. Salvador sucks.

  79. Marian – that would be the most stupid trade I’ve ever seen… Gaborik is Slovak and they don’t like Czechs and vice versa, and Gaborik doesn’t have a size… We need size.

  80. Doodie Machetto on

Jim Hughson is the best play-by-play man in the NHL. Emerick is definitely top 3 though.

And Beer, you’re just hating on him because of the Devils.

  81. maybe JD is trying to piss off sather by approving that trade.

I don’t know if I’d trade dubi. At least not now. GOD FORBID Hank went down (long term). You may have to move him for a goalie. But that’s only if you were on a serious cup run. So IMO, it would be purely based on the situation. Right now, there’s no need.

  82. If Salvador just got moved for a bag of pucks, it does set the bar low for defensemen. Perhaps its not such a sellers market after all.

  83. And Dubi has size and will get even stronger and better on his skates and maybe, with practice, become a better fighter. The kid is a power forward in the making. I feel like a proud parent when I watch that kid this year. He developed right before our eyes.

  84. I can’t believe you guys are talking about Watches for Nasty this blog has turned the page on topics. Personall I like that TAG carrera those bold blue faces are very in according to mens health. I would know to I shave my nuts and get my brows waxed so there I said it an my wife likes it.

Janssen for Salvador makes the Blues a nastier teams gives the Dev a little more reliability on the blueline, we’ll still own them though.

On another note I am playing in Game 3 of my winter league championship tonight wish the puckz luck.

  85. doodie – right on with hughson. I don’t hate emerick purely cause the devils. i’ve talked about it here before…voice is like nails on a blackboard. And the whole “647 ticks left in this match” b/s. that guy sux. its a disgrace that he ever called ranger games.

  86. Doodie Machetto on

Salvador is *worth* a bag of pucks. This does nothing to market prices.

Maybe if we’re lucky we can get a bag of pucks signed by Janssens for Malik.

  87. I don’t even want to listen about Dubi trade. He’s not going anywhere. End of story.
St.Louis tv says that Rucinsky might be the next one on the move. Watch out!

  88. Good luck puckz! And things are slow on the trade front today. So I figured why not get some help choosing a watch?

  89. Nasty seriously though the bold faced colors are in thats a good deal on that and if you got a hook up you know you got to make it happen. I always feel it’s worth going into debt for new equipment, good jeans, and watches.

  90. Yeah man, there is nothing like a good pair of jeans, and a good watch for that matter. I have a lot of watches. Most have black or blue in them. I have two bad ass swiss army watches, that were pretty expensive, and they have red and green in them. But I like this TAG in either the brown or the blue. I am leaning towards the brown one. Actually I am just realizing that Brad Pitt has something to do with the brown one, maybe Angelina will come knocking on my door if I wear it. I can always use the old tuna excuse with my wife, ha. Actually I think she would want in if Angelina came knocking.

  91. Emrick is a geek….agree with Beer Me….”136 ticks left on the clock.” The guy is a grade A dork.

  92. And Emrick ALWAYS says, Jostles in the corner, Jostles in front of the net. Hey Emrick, Jostle my balls with Chico’s mustache!

  93. Have any of you watched a Devs game lately they do this thing were chico eats something from the arena. You know they are desperate to fill seats when they need to promote the food in the arena using chico to get people to come to games.

  94. “Marian – that would be the most stupid trade I’ve ever seen… Gaborik is Slovak and they don’t like Czechs and vice versa, and Gaborik doesn’t have a size… We need size.”

Hossa is Slovak and him and Jagr get along fine. Plus back then when these guys were born, it was all one country anyway. Oh and not to mention they live and work in the US now so they dont really care. Your theory is flawed. haha.

  95. She’s fun for a girl and a boy, haha. I am the nasty I am the nasty I am the nasty 1. I am the nasty I am the nasty, I AM THE NASTY 1!

    God, I am bored!

  96. nasty – I’m a watch-nut too. My fav I own is a Bulova. Movado not bad, but overpriced for nothing IMO.

  97. Jonny D – I’m from there so I guess I now a little better than you. Even when there was Czechoslovakia they hate each other because that was fake country, communists created it. And I don’t like Gaborik at all.

  98. Not really. He’s still on pace for an above average season for him. I dont get why people expected him to come in here and get 100+ points when the most he’s ever had was 84 two years ago.

    ….

Goddamn dude, I swear some people don’t watch the actual games, just tally stats.

If I had a dime for everytime Gomez would single handedly take the puck from our zone into thiers only to have NO ONE with him going to the net to finish. *Fuck* his prior numbers, He’s 27, and a ridiculous puck mover. You want to know why the Rangers have blown this year, it’s largely because Gomez lacked a finisher to make good on all his hard work. There is absolutely no reason that Gomez could not not break 100 points for a few seasons here if you get someone talented and willing to run with him. NO REASON.

Drury, again, fuck his “average numbers”. If you watched the first 3/4 of the season you’d visually see a *mediocre* player in Chris Drury. You’d *know* that even his soft numbers were in fact padding his season, because it was pretty dreary. Luckily he’s come around somewhat and will continue to, but these are players that should be reaching their *primes*, right now, and we should facilitate that instead of saying “play Jagr’s game”.

Watch the games. Gomez the poor bastard has wasted so much energy running the puck through only to be caught with his pud in his hands upon entering the zone.

  99. Gomez the poor bastard has wasted so much energy running the puck through only to be caught with his pud in his hands upon entering the zone.
    ———-
there is no way i could have said that better.

  100. Doodie

Don’t often agree with you, but I do completely on Emrick. And he’s a great, great guy for whatever that’s worth. I met him before a game (when he was filling in on Ranger radiocasts 20 years ago) and he is a mensch.

  101. At least Emrick calls the plays as they happen, and as Doodie says, gets excited for both teams. Sam Rosen does neither, and misses calling about 3/4 of the goals.

  102. YEAH SALTY. well said about gomer. If we only had a 1st line RW. Someone just like Marion Hossa.

I think Dru just had a slow start though. His best games as a Ranger are all ahead of him/us. Obviously.

  103. If this were my blog, I’d kick all you Emrick lovers right the hell out of here. Just the mention of his name made me get all red in the face and pissed off.

  104. Jonny D – I’m from there so I guess I now a little better than you. Even when there was Czechoslovakia they hate each other because that was fake country, communists created it. And I don’t like Gaborik at all.

Ok, I have friends over there from both Slovakia and the Czech Republic and they both have mixed opinions about the countries. From what they tell me, its more on the government level than what the people actually want. And either way this has nothing to do with guys playing in the NHL since they live and work in the US/Canada. I don’t think Jagr, Malik, Straka, Rozy, and Prucha would throw a tantrum is yet another Slovak player came to the team. Just because you hate Gaborik since hes from Slovakia doesn’t mean the players would. As I already said they get along with Hossa fine and I’m sure Gaborik would fit right in too. I don’t want Gaborik strictly because while I think hes amazing, we’d have to give up too much of our future.

  105. “Hey Mike Emerick! How much time before the trade deadline?”

    Emerick: “There’s 17,645 ticks left!”

  106. I like Emrick imo he’s one of the best pbp guys around. I’m sure beer me loves John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman. yet hates a top notch announcer like Emrick.

  107. “If I had a dime for everytime Gomez would single handedly take the puck from our zone into thiers only to have NO ONE with him going to the net to finish. I do watch the games, and I agree that if he had a finisher he probably could hit 100 points. I’m just saying his career numbers don’t prove that and a lotta people thought he was gonna come over here and be this offensive stud. I like Gomer a lot, the only thing that bothers me is when he enters the offensive zone and just stops and waits to see who is open, which in turn means nobody is open since they usually let him chill while they cover the other guys in the zone. With the right player though (like Gionta) that works though. With the wingers we have on our team, it doesn’t, except for when Drury is out there and trails the play as the late man in (see goal vs. Nabokov).

  108. Two friekin trades in two days….glad the NHL network is broadcasting live all day.

Emrick is a tool. I hate announcers who think they are the reason we turn on the TV to watch the hockey. Similar to Chris Berman on ESPN.

Bring back Bill Chadwick and Jim Gordon. Where is Red Light Messina?

  109. I’m done with this emerick debate. he sux.

It makes me so mad to hear is name, I can’t take it anymore. especially coming from ranger ‘fans’.

  110. According to NHL.com, Brian Campbell has possibly been traded to San Jose. They just got much better.

  111. ……..

So basically, you just agreed with me that we have indeed wasted Gomez this year.

  112. someone please tell me what FL’s idea is to pick up belak (625k/yr) who becomes a UFA on july 1 for a 5th round pick? FL ain’t making the playoffs…what is the point of that?
