Callahan continues to progress

My apologies on the delay between posts, but I’ve been roaming the streets of Philadelphia (isn’t that a song?) looking for a wireless signal, and now only have a faint one inside a Cosi restaurant about 10 minutes from the rink.

At least there isn’t much to report. The Rangers had an optional skate at the Wachovia Center, with all the usual suspects (Jagr, Shanahan, Avery, Gomez, Drury, and Lundqvist) taking the morning off. Martin Straka and Ryan Callahan both endured their most strenuous workouts in their rehab, with Callahan even testing his knee with stops and starts. He reported no pain, but still has to get used to his knee brace, and said he’s lost some ground conditiong wise. In all likelihood, both are still about a week away.

Marek Malik also skated, but still hasn’t subjected himself to contact, making the premise of my previous post premature.

More in a bit…

Right there sounds like he should or could be heading to Hartford for a conditioning stint. Who knows what Renney is thinking in that strange brain.

IMO that is the right move the way the team is playing as a solid group right now. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

You said “Prucha-Gomez-Jagr-Rozsival- Dubinsky (Puck Posession)
    Avery-Drury-Shanahan-Girardi-Mara (Shooter/Net Crashing)”

I have no problem with the second unit. But on the first, i have a big problem…

For one, who is gonna play the point, besides Rozi, you cant have Dubi up there, he works along the boards and does a good job, and you cant have Gomez up there cause he needs to work downlow and make plays, and you cant put Pruchs up there because he isnt that great defensively, and in some way you can say the same about Jags. My units would be…

    Prucha – Gomez – Jagr
    Staal – Rozsival

    Avery – Drury – Shanahan
    Girardi – Mara

Mara made a bonehead pass last night which nearly lead to a short handed goal, thankfully Hank saved the day, but this is why i prefer 2 D men on both units. And the staff should consider Staal on the PP. He has a great shot which he proved, and he can move the puck around, and defensively he can save the day.

Why is everyone trying to change the PP? It’s working well right now, at like exactly 20% for the last 10 games. The reason why the season percentage is so low is because it was so lousy to begin the season, but so was our entire offense.

  4. Prucha should be on the #1 PP and Shanny on the #2. The #2 unit isn’t so hot. If the #1 unit doesn’t score, then our PP is basically done. the #2 unit needs to be as big a threat as the #1.

ORRs lines look good to me.

But the 1st line is scoring at a good rate. You can’t ask for much higher of a percentage on a season than 20, and that’s what they’re doing. Why change it?

  6. Not to change the subject, but what do people think about Joe Micheletti? Obviously it’s tough to replace JD, but it seems to be getting harder to listen to Micheletti. He doesn’t make any interesting points, he repeats obvious facts and is actually wrong quite a bit. How many times throughout a broadcast does he say “Pardon me, Sam.” It even seems Sam is getting frustrated.

  7. Because you give yourself a chance of converting at an even higher percentage with 2 viable units. If it doesn’t work, go back to the way it is now.

Adam, I actually like Joe. I especially like it when he interrupts Sam because Sam is terrible. He’s no JD, but I think he does a good job.

Now if only we could dump Trautwig and Fischler. Giannonne is on the bubble. I wish we could steal Steve Cangelosi from the Devs.

  9. Adam, I like Joe too but he is no JD, therefore, no one really is. We were extremely spoiled having him for so long. He is a classy guy who knows the sport as well as anyone with amazing insight. As sad as it was to see him go, he deserved that job and about a dozen before that one. It was great to see the camera glance upon him during Messier’s induction Monday night.

WHAAAAAAT !!! Cangelosi !! Hell fuggin no, that guy is an annoying little ratty looking moron. He was made for the devils.

I cant stand Gianone and his lame friggin jokes, Trautwig isdecent and Fischler can be funny but he is to old school, and says alot of dumb things. I definitely dont want that annoying chick Kaufman, she’s made for the Isles and drooling over Dipietro. I’d prefer Mike Crispino AKA Crispy. At least he’s semi funny.

I miss JD big time, and ill never get used to Joe, but he’s decent, but Sam i always funny. Joe, is just plain blind.
