John says: ""Bring it on! I hope the Rangers are smart enough to sneak people to the far post on his bad eye’s side.""

ok i know that for some games we will need orr and hollweg in when we need some sand paper in the lineup, but is it so wrong to have a line up like this

straka dubi jagr
avery gomez prucha
shanny drury dawes
callahan betts hossa

you can interchange callahan or hossa for prucha or dawes, however the chemistry works out, but with all the talent on the rangers its a shame that hollweg and orr are causing a logjam on that 4th line, i know renney likes the current 4th line because of their puck possession game and he likes playing them against other teams 1st lines so as to open up jagr and the other scoring lines, but i think the fourth line i mentioned could easily play a great puck possession game and score the occassional goal here and there, the way our 4th line they might end up with 5 goals the whole year and thats being optimistic, thats insanity folks!

Alex- I agree with your post, This team will be very different come 2 years. It will also be extremely young if all goes as planned, which is why we need to give Callahan and Dawes a shot to play in the NHL now. You cant have a team of all players who have never played consistently in the NHL.

My mistake, he is. Proves my point even more. The kids will get their shot. Next year.

And also, people need to stop talking about Anisimov, Moore, Bourret et al like their automatically making the team. Who knows if any of them are NHL material?

If you dont give at least some of the kids a shot now, how can you expect them to step into the NHL and be a solid unit, just like that? In my mind, sending Callahan and Dawes down would be a major step back for the organization. They have to be able to contend for the cup while developing future organizational talent. You can't send all your guys to Hartford and have them step up just liek that.

Jags will play one more year...his father says that he was stongest at 37 years of age and that Jagr is physically just like him...but if this was going to be his last year you'd think we would have heard it by now throughout the broadcasts...Shanny won't be back, at least that's my estimate...one of the reasons I think we got Drury AND Gomez was not because we need this year (although you could say well with Nylander leaving we did, but we coulnd't hold onto Nyland this year and be screwed out of getting the Drury/Gomez for the next 4 or so years) but we'll need them a great deal after Jags, Shanny, Straka leave...it's really changed suddenly the young prospects we have, I mean there a bunch of Wolfpack players that would be fun to see up, we've got a bunch of young defensemen playing now and Sanguinetti is still in juniors...it'll be a very different Ranger team than the one today in maybe 2 years.

RE Last Thread:

Straka is signed for next year, Shanahan isn’t, and the Rangers have a team option on Jagr. Jagr has said repeatedly that this is most likely his last season.

Callahan and Dawes are both on minor league contracts, so they don’t have to pass through waivers. I wouldn’t care to see either one or both sent down. I like them as players, but face it…The Rangers aren’t going to send Straka or Hossa down, right? Even Dawes has been ordinary in the last 2 games.

These guys will have their time to shine. People need to stop jumping on the bandwagon anytime a rookie scores a goal. I think Dubinsky has been the more consistent player (than Dawes), and has been rewarded by playing on the top line. Daws has been good, but similar to the beginning of the year, it’s a numbers game. I wouldn’t mind seeing a rotation of Callahan, Dawes or Hossa throughout the lineup, depending on the need.

This is so nonsensical I dont know where to start. Why in the world would you want to send Ryan Callahan and Nigel Dawes to the minor leagues? It seems to make very little sense. These guys are our future. Next year we are not gonna be able to rely on Shanny or Straka. We need to give these guys minutes this year so they can fill their spots once they leave. If you dont give them chances now, we are in trouble for next year. Plus there is no way you can play guys like Orr, Betts and Hollweg over these promising young kids. I dont see the rational thinking in sending 2 guys who can produce way more than Betts, Hollweg, Orr and maybe even more than Prucha. Callahan could be an ideal 4th liner, as could Dawes. I dont see why you would want to send them down when they could definitely do a better job than others on the roster.

It's all about crashing the net and rebound control. How is the Isles' D? Berard is still on IR. Bergeron is average.. I think Campoli might be somewhat of a problem.. and DP is one eye'd Willy.

This could benefit the Rangers. What if DiPietro's eye is not 100%? I doubt it is. We could get a bunch of goals against him.
