This ice rink is cold, and other obvious statements

Game 2 was two hours away, and whether it’s a source of encouragement or concern for you, Jaromir Jagr was again elaborating on his latest brain teaser.

This one had to do with two ropes burning, but to be honest, I couldn’t follow it. I’d never thought I’d say this about a hockey player, but the conversation went well over my head.

Meanwhile, the plaza outside is already brimming with fans while a band decked in Sabres jerseys was belting out Pink Floyd covers. It’s worth noting that for Game 1 the Sabres had a beer ban in effect for the area outside the arena and no one showed up. Now the ban has been lifted, and they’re again expecting thousands. Even for a mathematical idiot like me, I can tell you the difference.

Other than that, no major updates to report since this morning. I bumped into Michal Rozsival on the elevator at our hotel, and he repeated he was “much better.”

The cast of “The Sopranos,” which is filming a scene here, is expected to be in attendance, while the Irish tenor, Ronan Tynan, will sing the National Anthem. It must be a big game.

More later….

HAHA did anyone else just see those TARDS that couldn’t do a lets go rangers chant right??

  2. Yenner Mot

Pearn ran the prctace while the “coach” sat chatting with the GM? WTF is this?

  3. bklynblue

Sam what’s up with this? Ort is out , & Isbister is in.

  4. NYR1994

bklynblue, where did you hear that?

  5. bklynblue

on the radio pre game show

  6. Yenner Mot

    Is Ortmeyer hurt?

  7. bklynblue

they didn’t say, I doudt it Sam would have reported him not practicing.

  8. Yenner Mot

Ortmeyer did have a pretty bad game with 2 giveaways and only 1 hit in 7 minutes of icetime

  9. Sam Weinman

FYI: Ortmeyer AND Isbister skated in warmups.
    Sam

  10. Yenner Mot

Was Ortmeyer the one who missed couple of huge hits? Also isn’t he a UFA and wasn’t resigned? Maybe they are not planning to bring him back for next season?

  11. bklynblue

SAM ESPN radio NYC made the call

  12. bklynblue

mot what does tonight have to do with next year?

  13. Yenner Mot

Ortmeyer should be playing though, one of the best penalty killers, one of the fastest Rangers, and the best hitter after Hollweg.

  14. bklynblue

I’d like to hear the logic

  15. Yenner Mot

“mot what does tonight have to do with next year?”

maybe he knows they are not interested in him and his level of play dropped?

  16. Yenner Mot

Wow they made Malik look like a total fool that he is on the 2nd goal.

  17. AngelusMortis

Ugh, once again Joe “Sabre” Benanati is once again doing the play by play. I’ve never seen anyone glorify Buffalo like he did in Game 1, other than Rick Jeanerette. Isbister for Ortmeyer doesn’t seem like a good choice. Good to see Rozsival is okay, bad to see that Pock has once again been snubbed for Rachunek.

  18. Sam Weinman

    Isbister in, Ortmeyer out…

  19. bklynblue

He has done his job fine

  20. bklynblue

Ort will be missed on the PK

  21. Yenner Mot

    “Isbister in, Ortmeyer out…”

maybe you should find out why…

  22. AngelusMortis

I wonder if Shanahan will improve upon his -4 game on Monday, and his other mediocre performances against the Buffaslugs. In 5 games against Buffalo this year, he’s a -13. Ouch.

  23. AngelusMortis

Great, two jackasses on the Versus broadcast tonight. Benanati and Nolan. Not to mention the rest of the “awesome” Versus studio crew.

  24. Doodie Machetto

I think Ortmeyer is hurt and they aren’t saying anything about it. He saw very little ice last night even though they were on the PK for over 10 minutes (He saw only ~1:45 of that).

Sam, you’ve got some work to do!

  25. Yenner Mot

    “he’s a -13. Ouch”

They should have taken old toothless man out instead of Ortmeyer. Shanahan is too slow, too soft, and doesn’t seem to be into it mentally.

  26. Bobby Granger is a hoser

Wow, Ronan Tynan looks an awful lot like Doug Allen.

  27. Bobby Granger is a hoser

Ooops. There he is. My bad Sammy.

  28. Yenner Mot

“I think Ortmeyer is hurt and they aren’t saying anything about it. He saw very little ice last night even though they were on the PK for over 10 minutes (He saw only ~1:45 of that).”

no he played till the very end: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20062007/SC030211.HTM

  29. AngelusMortis

Damn, that guy can really belt out the notes.
