This is the sign I just saw at my hotel:
“Welcome International Snow Symposium.”
Word is the Hot Sauce Recipe Convention is down the street…
Did you get any weird vibes off of Jagr during the interviews after practice. On the blueshirtbulletin.com they mentioned that Jagr looked agitated by all the questions. You think that this may be a sign of pressure building up on him to do better in game 2 or is he just fed up with all the questions about game 1 and wants to move on to game 2?
Lets Go Blueshirts!!!!!
From what I read, he was just agitated by some reporters asking the same question over and over.
Sam, good job with Kenny ALbert at the Rangers practice today, just watched it on Rangers on Demand.
Sam, if there really is a hot sauce convention, hook me up with some samples.
yes I know there isn’t one.
Sam, just watched the Rangers on demand. Your voice is not as high pitched as it is on television.
Also, it sounded like Kenny Abert said they trailed the Sabres by one game to nine(instead of none).
we will win on friday.you can take it to the bank!!!buf was not at all impressive to me yesterday.we gave them the game, they did not take it from us.all we need to do is play smarter with out the puck and stop giving so much ice time to the fourth line wich brings nothing to the table offensively.and against buffulo, that is a problem and we need to give more time to our top three lines.we just had a week off and fatigue should not be an issue now.
czech can it be taken to the bank that Rachky has credit in? ;) the chips can be beaten if the NYR really want to. that seems to be the real question now after the actions of last night and the words that followed. they kicked butt in March and gave it to the trash, now they have to play the same way . hopefully you’re right, but for some reason they have created doubts. it’s all about confidence and finding ways to win.
Darn devils—mounting a comeback.
Doodie Machetto says: “”Also, it sounded like Kenny Abert said they trailed the Sabres by one game to nine(instead of none).””
It sounded like that to me too!
Czech, which game were you watching last night? Even our papers admit that the Rags were dismantled.
Open your eyes, and stop drinking so much Urquell.
TIRF, You can fit a computer in a trailer? A$$hol*
my eyes are open!!what i saw was a team(nyr)that was rusty
and and careless because of the rust, against a team that is supposed to be unbeatable.what i saw was poor and one sided officiating,a team missing it’s best dman for two periods,a coach putting in a dman who was very very rusty because of a long layoff instead of a dman who has steadily played better and better with every game.what i also saw was that we outplayed them at even strengh and we were even with them with shots on goal despite the fact we were short handed way more than they were.we clearley did not bring our a game, but on friday we will and the series will be even at 1-1.as far as what dellapina and brooks say,who cares they are not the last word on what i see when i watch a game.
tirf-what is urquell?is that what they drink in buffulo?or does urquell mean spiked kool aid in bufullonian?and do fans in your decrepid shity normally insult people who they don’t agree with because all that cold weather degrades your brain cells.
At the airport this morning they had a sign saying the same thing with another line underneath that said Go Sabres!!
I love New York, and I love the Rangers, but Buffalo is a better hockey city. There were signs in all of the (occupied) storefronts, virtually everyone I saw had some kind of Sabres clothing on, they had four local tv channels out doing live stand ups at the rally before Game 1, every bar was filled with Sabres fans and decked out with Sabres stuff – even those 20 minutes away from the arena- it was quite impressive. Not to mention that they gave out t-shirts, signs (RIP the Rangers) and pompoms where the Rangers have just given the same boring paper-thin towels … plus there were fans handing out fan-made signs making fun of Avery and Jags.
Czech, using what criteria were we as good as Buffalo at full strength? And, considering that we were too stupid to stay out of the penalty box, is that really relevant?
You say rusty. My alternate theory is that our defensemen couldn’t cope with their depth. It is easy to shut down a one line one dimensional team like Atlanta, but Buffalo has four lines. Their 4th line is going to play in excess of 11-12 minutes. Ours is going to play 5-6 minutes. Do the math! Who is going to end up being fresher?
We are going down in 5 games. Our defense will be our downfall.
Czech, I figured based on your name that you would know.
Scott O, If the Sabs were in last you wouldn’t see that so cool it pal. There handing out signs making fun of our players, Wow how cute, I made signs making fun of people when I was 6.
Please, tired of hearing about Buffal0….F*ck em’
I don’t know, right now the Sabres seem pretty smug. Like they have no respect for thewir opponent. Which is fine with me.
And one last thing, Czech. If you’re going to insult someone else’s intelligence, it would behoove you not write like an incoherent homeless person using the computer in the soup kitchen office. Lastly, how about using the spacebar between sentences? It is the long skinny button underneath the CVBNM keys.
I am from Forest Hills, BTW. Not from Buffalo.
Peter, smug, like the attitude of Renney and Avery? At least they have earned the right to be smug, if only for one game. We haven’t done jack5hit. Can you also provide a link to an article where the Sabres are coming off as smug? I think they were pretty evenkeeled, the way I wish we were in the days leading up do the game.
tirf-that’s right, they could not cope with buffulo because they lost rozy in the first period.even so,cope is probobly overstating our issues on defense.we still out played them at even strengh and without our best dman.do you think buffulo would have done better without tallinder?i think not.the problem is we have a stubborn mule for a head coach, who plays rachunek despite the fact that he was largly disappointing this year, instead of pock who has played well down the stretch and in the playoffs.that is what hurt us more yesterday.we had to rely more on krapunek when rozy went down.that also exposed malik because rozy was not ther to cover up his mistakes and lack of foot speed.as far as the fourth line comparison,i agree that that match up could potentialy kill us if renney continues to play hollweg and ortmeyer.in this particular series,a guy like dawes or even korpikoski would make alot more sense.but that would require some balls wich renney has never exhibited when it comes to young players.
it would behoove you not write like an incoherent homeless person using the computer in the soup kitchen office.
check your command of the english language and grammer asshole, before you criticize someone else.
tirf-i make enough money to pay some one to type for me.
Czech, I am just trying to figure out how we outplayed them at even strength. Again, I ask, how do you figure? Lets break it down.
First period – we had a few great chances early in the game, but Miller stoned us, and then the rest of the period, Henrik saved us. Since you seem to care, we won 5 minutes of the first period, them 15.
Second period – we got a bunch of shots, but not much traffic in front of net, and Miller doesn’t have to make many big saves. They score 2 even strength goals.
Third Period – We have one good even strength goal, they have even strength goal. We score a garbage time goal, which is basically equivalent to their empty net goal. Shots basically even. If you count garbage time, then maybe this period is even.
So, at best, we were better than them a 1/3 of the time. Of course, penalties are part of the game, and trying to take them out of the game by claiming that we outplayed them at even strength is nonsensical. It’s like claiming that we were better in odd numbered periods in minutes 7-10. Who cares? You count all the minutes, not just the even strength ones.
Czech, it’s grammar, not grammer.
Is the Rangers On Demand only for the playoffs, or will it continue into next season.
You seem not to have any problems unleasing YOUR filthy mouth against a city or people you know nothing about.
Reccomend you check out the Anchor Bar.
Whats with all the Buffalo fans on here? I guess im going to go on their open blogs and talk shit after we win Friday night…One Game we played poor/they call it a series for a reason. Lets Go Rangers 07
Any ideas how to beat the Sabres?
Physically dominate and intimidate them? Trap them? Go run and gun wide open and hope that Lundqvist stands on his head? Try dirty tactic like hurting Miller? Any ideas?
Yenner, we already tried playing dirty, when Mara bowled Miller over.
Mara was shoved in, that was a bs call. That wouln’t hurt any goalie.
TIRF – obviously you are not a Ranger fan so cut the crap with the we. I’m guessing your team is a little east of us and is golfing for the spring/ summer just like every year since 1993.
I have a feeling Avery might be banged up after the Thrashers, I think they need to put him on the 3rd line and play Prucha on the 2nd line.
Callahan and Prucha need to get at least 16 minutes each.
I may have to go student teach today, but I love casual friday! Now I can wear my Hollweg jersey to work and rub in the fact that the Canadians didn’t make the playoffs, especially to the Salmon River hockey coach Bill Plante.
Even though I live in Delaware, I’ve been a Rangers fan since 1974 (I HATE the Flyers!). However, going into this series I didn’t really think they could take Buffalo, and I saw nothing the other night to change my mind. The Sabres have been the best team all season, even with lots of injuries. I would love to see the Rangers win this series, but let’s face it, they’re playing a team whose third line would be the first line on lots of teams! By the way, is Avery hurt? He didn’t seem to do much in game 1 after all his talking. I think he and Renney made a mistake by providing bulletin board material. Hope we win tonight.
Sam is Renney going with 7 D tonight if Rozi is in? Playing Hollweg 5-6 minutes doesnot really help compared to having insurance for an somewhat injured D corp.
bklyn – that’s a great point. You can always dress Pock as a wing on the 4th line. It isn’t like he’s never played there before, it gives insurance, and you can always drop another wing into that spot.
P.W. why Renney didn’t do it for game 1 doesn’t matter, but not doing it for game 2 assuming all are available would not make sense. He can doulble shift guys on the 4th line or just go with Pock , and alternate from there, adding both to the offense and keeping the defense fresh by sharing some of their minutes with Pock.
Yenner, everyone here knows that he wasn’t pushed into Miller. He made no effort whatsoever to avoid him. Come on.
LI Joe, I am a long suffering Rangers fan, born in Forest Hills. At the same time, I am a cold analytical type, and don’t watch the game through homer goggles. I can’t believe the shit that is being spewed here. I can’t believe how our boys have been so overvalued and Buffalo is undervalued. I can’t believe the retarded claims and rationalization that go on here, like we outplayed them while even strength. So if I see, BS, I am going to call it out.
I agree with TRIF we were just 100% out hustled by Buffallo and when you get out hustled you need to do other things to try to stop your opponent. That’s why we had so many penalties Buffalo players hustled and ket their feet going, got by us and the only thing they could do is hook them to try to stop them. And whomever said their 4th goal was not a goal, well it was definitly a goal. As TRIF said look and speak the truth about what you see not what you want to see. HOWEVER WE WILL GET THE JOB DONE TONIGHT, RENNY BETTER HAVE THEM 100% BACK UP TO SNUFF. GO RANGERS.
“I love New York, and I love the Rangers, but Buffalo is a better hockey city. LOL thats called “the bandwagon” and “marketing strategy”....
I’ll admit I have my doubts in NYR vs BUF. They’re just a real strong/fast team.
Tonight will pretty much tell if we have a series or not
If they can’t stay out of the box, they won’t win. It goes beyond the fact that you’re killing penalties instead of trying to score:
1) When you’re killing a penalty, your offensive players don’t see the ice. That means Jagr, Callahan, Prucha, etc. – that don’t kill penalties are all sitting for long stretches. When they come back, they aren’t warmed up and are even more ineffective.
2) The other team, particularly the defense, is fresher. When you have one team killing penalties all night, the team with the man advantage isn’t really using a lot of energy, especially the blue line. Then, when the cooled off offensive guys come on, that fresh defense core and fresher team can wear them down.
3) Jed Ortmeyer played only 1:34 of the PK. HIS ONLY FUNCTION FOR THE TEAM IS TO KILL PENALTIES AND HE ONLY SAW 1/8 OF THE TIME! Meanwhile, Shanahan saw almost HALF of it, and the only player who saw more was Tyutin. Even with the decimated defense core, Shanny saw more PK time than almost the entire defense. How did that turn out by the way? Nice -4 Shanahan.
Yeah, all the Buffalo fans are right, as are the people who are telling it like it is. I give up. You guys can have the series. Might as well make it only one game. And since I fully expected the Rangers to win 16 straight and that’s not happening, let’s just forget the whole thing and go home. We didn’t really play such a great game – in fact, that was probably our team’s worst effort since the Montreal game 6 weeks ago – but you’re right. The Sabres are just too much. Let’s not only throw in the towel, let’s start beating down our own team despite the fact that since January 2007 they’ve been among the top teams in the league and made Atlanta look like the Flyers. And let’s also now decide, while the glass is not just half but completely empty, that Atlanta actually wasn’t any good, they sucked in fact, and so do the Rangers. The only reason Buffalo had any trouble with the Isles is because the mighty, perfect Sabres just couldn’t get up for those games.
Shanahan and Jagr wanted to see how the Rangers would handle adversity because they knew they’d encounter some. I don’t know how our team will handle it yet, but I’m sure glad alot of you aren’t playing. Then we would be done for after only one loss.
TIRF – the idiot part of your signage made me think you are not a fan. some of your comments seemed to be more digs at the Rangers and fans – something I would expect out of fishstick fans. Buffalo thoroughly outplayed us in game 1. Tonights game is crucial. We pull it off and the Garden will be rocking for game 3 – plus the ice isn’t as good which hurts the Sabres speed. But we have to win tonight to have any real chance.
Snow? How about National Convention of Scrabble Players? You did now spend much time in fine hotels, did you, Sam? Let’s go Rangers!!!
“Jed Ortmeyer played only 1:34 of the PK. HIS ONLY FUNCTION FOR THE TEAM IS TO KILL PENALTIES AND HE ONLY SAW 1/8 OF THE TIME! Meanwhile, Shanahan saw almost HALF of it, and the only player who saw more was Tyutin.”
wow nice catch, Renney is a total idiot
“Yenner, everyone here knows that he wasn’t pushed into Miller. He made no effort whatsoever to avoid him. Come on.”
he was clearly pushed in, it is a hot strategy these days because the refs will give the goalie the benefit of the doubt 95% of the time
Hey Wieman, how about some witty cracks about the single mother with 6 kids on the New York subway sitting next to the transvestite with pink hair?
You know just as long as we’re pissing all over cities, you may as well be fair and balanced.
I’m sorry, but is my city catching shit from a golf writer based out of White Plains?
But Buffalo Pundit, the golf writer likes to wear figure skates – it makes him feel so rugged. Hell, does anyone in Westchester even know the difference between skates nonetheless have the knowledge to critique the Rangers second tragic loss?
Only in New York….oops… correction… only in Westchester, NY. Just because you take the Metro North south everyday, doesn’t make you a New Yorker. The only difference between a hick from Buffalo or a hick from White Plains is that I don’t have to deal with the fools from Buffalo on a daily basis.
This is more painful than watching the Yankees lose to the Blue Jays.
Trust us, we don’t like people calling us New Yorkers either. We’d MUCH rather be associated with Ohio or Michigan, hell even CANADA would be better than the misfortunte of sharing a name with you lot in that downstate cesspool. John Rocker was right, apparently.
You can keep Albany and your shit hockey teams, New York. We’ll keep our subway to nowhere, our small “hick” town AND our superior hockey team.
Have a nice summer you fucking pigs. Maybe next year you’ll get lucky and get to play Atlanta in all four rounds.
Yankees-Bluejays? I think you’re mistaken, Brooklyn Rebel(Rebel? Who’s calling who a hick now?). You can’t really compare the Yankees and Rangers given that unlike the Yankees, no one in New York cares about the Rangers. Well, you get more attention than the Liberty, I’ll give you that.
Trust us, we don’t like people calling us New Yorkers either. We’d MUCH rather be associated with Ohio or Michigan, hell even CANADA would be better than the misfortunte of sharing a name with you lot in that downstate cesspool. John Rocker was spot on, apparently.
You can keep Albany and your shit hockey teams, New York. We’ll keep our subway to nowhere, our small “hick” town AND our superior hockey club.
Have a nice summer you fucking pigs. Maybe next year you’ll get lucky and get to play Atlanta again in all four rounds.
