And we’re back…

My apologies for the technical problems on the site of late. For once, I’m pretty sure it’s something that is NOT my fault. But I’ve been wrong before.

Anyway, Tom Renney offered some more reaction just now to the news that Brendan Shanahan has been cleared to skate. In typical measured Renney fashion, the coach said the Rangers still can’t get ahead of themselves.

“I would think it excited him. He feels good about his progress. But you have to be prudent and smart about his progress and not let an emotional attachment to wanting to get out there and play be the overriding influence of what’s right, Renney said. “That’s why we’re still in my mind just inching along and doing the right things to make sure he’s ready to play.

Again, there is no timetable for Shanahan’s return, and the coach still doesn’t have any sense of when Shanahan might be able to be exposed to contact. But he did concede that it’s looking more and more like the veteran could be back for some important games down the stretch. And that alone is something…

Meanwhile, Kevin Weekes has also been cleared for full practice, but the challenge now is working the back-up back into playing shape. This is a trickier dilemma than you think because using three goalies in practice can be counterproductive. And with Stephen Valiquette still on call and in need of work to remain sharp, it doesn’t work having Weekes work in with him. More likely is that Weekes might assume some of Henrik Lundqvist’s practice load. But even starters need practice, too, so Weekes will still have to rely heavily on individual work.

In that sense, good thing Shanahan’s around…

  1. “…and not let an emotional attachment to wanting to get out there and play be the overriding influence of what’s right.”

Even I admit it. My verbosity is embarrassing.

  2. Emotional attachment? Can you imagine what it must be like to live with this guy?

“Son, maneuver your appendage appropriately so as to render the salt in such a manner that it is capable of being accessed by either of my hands, should I avail myself of the decision to augment the sensory dimensions of the legumes arrayed attractively before me.”

  3. why not send Weekes to a 2 week conditioning stint to Hartford? he can back up Al Montoya!

    LMAO

It’s like having John Ferguson jr. as a coach.
    Renney is such a knob.

  5. dubinsky is looking solid. winning faceoffs, passing well and really moving up the ice well.

  6. Yeah BlueClue, He’s starting to look comfortable and really playing well!!!Exciting stuff!!

  7. this kid has all the tools, size, speed, foot speed (haha)…i like what i see….doesn’t look out of place either, and he’s playing in pressure/important games..

Just as Rachunek is starting to play decently…

Emery seems unsure of himself tonight. He’s just going down and hoping to get the puck.

  10. Who is that wearing #92 out there???? What the hell is going on?? I hope Rachunek is OK, he has been playing well of late.

They are really attacking the net tonight. It is great. Pock has played very well so far. Now all they need is the PP to pick it up. The only thing pissing me off right now is that I sat Nylander this week in fantasy for Lacavelier and Malkin (not to mention I have also sat Lacavelier and Eric Cole this year during weeks where they have scored hattricks).

  11. 2-0 lead. Now do what good teams do and bury these guys instead of letting them rally on you, which has been so predictable and irritating.

PW- Maybe you should sit him more often? And maybe Straka, and Prucha while you’re at it.

  13. nylander-straka-jagr combined for 9 shots on goal in the 1st period.

prucha had 0 shots with 3 swings and three missed…i do love him though-

  14. sam rosen just said that liffiton is renney’s next choice and his favorite d man on the pack-

  15. Tom Renney is kind of like a walking dictionary LOL!! But you know thats kind of hot. In a nerdy sort of way.

Rick DiPietro just left the Islanders/Montreal game with an injury. He raced out to play the puck away from an attacking Montreal player, dove for the puck and got kicked in the head.

    Karma?
