Thanks to the estimable Peter Abraham, author of a “highly entertaining and ridiculously popular Yankees blog”:http://yankees.lohudblogs.com/ for teaching me how to post a Youtube video directly on to the blog.
Since I mentioned our friend Inferno’s highlight video earlier, I figured that will be our inaugural venture, although I should mention the soundtrack is on the strong side (I’m more of an alt-country, roots rock guy myself). Still, it’s pretty cool. I look forward to other ways that I can get you fired from your jobs because of countless hours idling on the Internet.

Jay—
I’m game if you are. Heck, the ponds are frozen so we don’t even need a rink. We can even have a game against Dellapina and his blog regulars since he’s a player, too. Blog on blog: A journalistic first!
the Pacific division is the best example of the ridiculous NHL points for losers program.
Anaheim has fewer wins than San Jose and Dallas, but the Ducks are winning the division and getting a 3rd seed and home ice because they have LOST 8 times in OT or SO.
so the teams that win in regulation are punished by the stupid rule.
they are talking about giving 3 points for a reg. win, but I would rather it just be 2 columns, wins and losses, and no points period.
If we did it, Jay, we’d need some planning time, and maybe someone else to chime in with suggestions. I know of a few good ponds, but many of them involve illegal trespassing, which I’m not sure is the way to go (my outlaw days are behind me, or so I’ve told my bosses).
If anyone has any ideas, feel free to throw them out there, and understand it would most likely have to be on a Rangers off day.
Yeah, um, not to burst anyone’s bubble here, but it appears that Inferno took the NHL’s “Best goals of the first half” video, chopped out the title cards before each goal, and dropped in new music.
If you guys want to come up to Canton, play some puck and catch an SLU or Clarkson game, I’m in. I play like Hollweg but skate like Manute Bohl (I hope you get the reference)
How many points do you think the Ranger’s would have if Renney had changed up his lines earlier in the year?
Hadn’t planned on it but will probably go to the RBC Center on Thursday for the Ranger game…hopefully they will keep it going (I’ve seen three games there and they haven’t won yet). If the Ranger’s get a mascot like the “Canes” Stormy the Pig (you figure it out, ‘cause I don’t know what a pig has to do with a hurricane) it will do me in.
I emailed Sam off-line. I guess we need to see how many of you are really interested in playing. Maybe we could put a team together and issue a challenge to the Dellapina crew. Maybe he has enough for a team, maybe not…(I haven’t seen too much activity on his blog – I hope he doesn’t read this.:)
If not, we could do an intra-blog game with Home and Away Jerseys deciding which team you are on.
I am also relegated to rooting for the Bears, right here from my room looking upon the hallowed Maxcy Hall. I miss Ossining, at least they made the playoffs this year.
Sammy,
Don’t know if you’re aware of this, but if there’s a media-related hockey game, I’m always the official coach, since I hung up my skates and blocker and pads. Ask Dellapina if you need verification.
So let me know when and where. Three Ponds on the Rye/Harrison border? That’s where I made my rep, since we didn’t have an organized team back then. Post game at Pat’s Hubba Hubba.
I have quite the view of…the bleachers for the field (tons of fun when it is soccer season). I think I have gone to….maybe 3 games? I have to drag my roommate.
At least our football team is undefeated since 1816. Rutgers doesn’t have anything on us. Don’t you just love those Monday nights at -5 and falling? Makes for a beautiful trip from Knowles to Maxcy just to watch the team get spanked by Plattsburgh or Fredonia. Atleast Nalgine bottles make the game a little more interesting.
I’d like to see Dupuis sit. The HBO line deserves to continue on. The scoring prowess of Hollweg and Orr would be missed from the lineup. Let them hit, fight, forecheck and shoot. They’ve earned spots in the lineup.
as a former player of Carp’s, watch out…....leading over the staff with 5 minutes to play, he never changed lines once…....left us on the ice for the final five minutes and the victory….which of course he claimed as a product of his superior coaching….....and after all the ironmen showered up, dragged ourselves upstairs for pizza only to find out our coaching staff had demolished most of the pies…..yep a regular Dick Irvin Sr….....just kidding Carp…....you know we love you

No Avery spearings or pushups on that video???
Hahaha, I wouldn’t call it countless hours.
If I can steal a line from Office Space: “I’d say I do about 15 minutes of real work each day.”
aww shucks
:)
Looks an awfully like NHL.com’s Best of 2006 clip.
Nice video Inferno.
Now we need one of Sam showing that famous shot of his!!
Get busy on that one!
Sam,
When is the Rangers Report Pick up Game?
Not one Ranger highlight on the whole reel. Almost every made it, bot not Blue?

count me in!
Sam,
Tell me what pond and if anyone wants to sign up, send an email to me. You have my email right?
In the email I need names, positions and player experience.
We’ll try for a Saturday or Sunday pond game.

I can’t ice skate, can I coach the team??

Man, I need to hit up a Clarkson or SLU game. I’m stranded with the greatness that is SUNY Potsdam hockey =\

That’s gonna be one Hell of long commute for you, isn’t it?
I’ll be back in NY in March.

I am very jealous. I miss NY and playing hockey.

We have a brand new rink, really nice set up- but it is amlost alway empty.
Almost= amlost, sorry.

Where are the three ponds?
Are they good size and safe?
Man, one of Deftones bottom five songs.

Is Forsberg a Ranger yet???
Josh T.,
Nice behind the scenes article today. You guys are doing a great job in making TJN the go to place for Rangers coverage.
Ok Sam, peaked my curiosity – name some bands you listen to. Alt Country, etc
You a Uncle Tupelo/Wilco fan?
Cheers
So, what is the plan for Canes?
“Passenger” by the Deftones, featuring Maynard James Keenan of Tool, from their critically acclaimed 2000 release, White Pony.
so I finally buckled and watched it, and I noticed two things:
1) you hate Brodeur
2) you left out Marty Straka’s miracle play!
Otherwise, very entertaining.
John M – the attached indicates the Flyers want 2 number one picks + another young asset.
