Pregame, Rangers vs. Islanders

A few tidbits from Tom Renney’s pregame talk with the media:

— Just returned from downstairs in the Coliseum and Tom Renney said *Henrik Lundqvist is in net.* Also, *Martin Straka will start the game at center,* though Renney made it a point to say it doesn’t mean he won’t finish on the wing. He hopes moving Straka will help balance the scoring, which you all know has been a season-long issue.

— I asked Renney about *the team’s plans for Jed Ortmeyer,* who, as you all probably saw, returned from Hartford but remains a non-roster injured player. This is what he had to say: “We’re going to review that after the game tonight. We’ll see how it is tomorrow and then go from there.” Sounds like Ortmeyer is very close to returning.

— Renney talked at length about his defensemen being left on the ice too long lately, and that tired legs have led to goals. They need to shuttle in and out more often to get fresher groups on the ice, he said. We’ll see if there’s a difference tonight.

— Also, someone asked about Hossa vs. Orr. Hossa is in, Orr is out.

I’ll be back later with updates…Time for some pregame nourishment.

  1. yeah, because of Renney’s lame insistence that the Roszival pair must almost always be on with the Jagr line, and since that line overstays its shifts, well then you have the Dmen on the ice for too-long shifts, just like this too-long sentence.

  2. If there ever was a game to get Orr in this is it imo. I’d put him on the ice right away maybe have an Orr-Witt fight and feed off the energy.

  3. Yeah, because Orr would beat Witt’s fists with his face like he did to Belak.

Orr is totally useless…at least Hossa might do something once in a million moons.
