Greetings from Vermont

Yes, I’m still on vacation, but I figured I’d pass along that the Rangers have called up both Jed Ortmeyer and defenseman Bryce Lampman from Hartford, while sending Brad Isbister down the other way.

Ortmeyer will remain a non-roster injured player pending further examination. As for the 24-year-old Lampman, no word yet on whether he’s going to play tonight against the Islanders, but I would assume this means Marek Malik still isn’t ready to play. But I’m curious why Lampman was called up and not Ivan Baranka or Daniel Girardi.

Meanwhile, the estimable Josh Thomson should be checking in with you all soon, and will be on the scene tonight at the Mausoleum as well. As for me, I’ve got two more todays of not having to shave up here in the Green Mountain State, before I’m back full-time on Thursday.

Hope you all had a great holiday. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think I might be going through blog withdrawal….

  1. BECAUSE LAMPMAN IS ANOTHER SAFE PICK WITH NO UPSIDE. RENNEY IS PETRIFIED OF HIS KIDS FOR WHATEVER REASON.

  2. I’m scratching my head over Lampman as well. Baranka has been the best dman in Hartford, in my opinion.

  3. No offense Jed but he is just one more of the group of players that work hard but dont produce any offense

  4. Bryce Lampman is the oldest age wise, defensmen in Hartford. It’s another “you payed your dues kid” promotion.
Again, the big question is if Malik doesn’t go tonight, does Renney have the moxy to play Pock and Lampman? We shall see.
As far as the PP goes. The question is have the coaches told the forwards to simplify it?
I f the Rangers show no life tonight in the one on one battles tonight, is it enough for the management to make sweeping changes?
Will Henrik start? Or will Renney play Weekes because he had him penciled in on his Blackberry to play tonight?

  5. Sorry gonyr but I disagree 100% with you on Orty, unlike Hossa and the rest Orty adds energy works hard, and is great on the pk, and very solid 5 on 5.

exactly right. and if he can eventually keep Shanny from having to play excess minutes on the PK, then that is valuable as well.
