A couple lineup items

Hey, everyone. Hope you had a good holiday. Apparently, Sam has decided to be pleasant to me this week, so it appears our endless college hockey war has ceased.

I just got an email from the Rangers. I don’t have the complete lineups yet (will return with those later tonight once my Civic docks on the Island), but I do have this: Lampman and Malik will not dress against the Islanders tonight. Malik is still healing from his strained groin.

I’ll be back later this afternoon unless something comes in…

  1. Colorado Mark…Sam had mentioned Ortmeyer’s status in his post. He is a non-roster player at this point. The Rangers did tell me Ortmeyer wouldn’t play tonight, but I didn’t include it b/c I figured you guys already knew that. Sorry I didn’t make it more clear.

Presumably, Ortmeyer would take the place of Lampman when he’s ready (and Malik is healthy), but we’ll hopefully get the answer from Renney later.

  2. Bryce Lampman? Haven’t we seen this kid four or five times already in the last 4 seasons? What do Girardi and Baranka have to do to get a call-up?

I think it might also be time to break up the Jagr, Nylander, Straka line and try for some more balanced scoring in the lineup.

  3. Sorry, “my bad,”I forgot he was a non-roster guy and I got my hopes up! So it will be Orr or Hossa. Still not sure why they bothered bringing up Lampman at all, unless they are going to send Orts back down for more conditioning.

  4. Lampman: He’s a solid defender and, were it not for a bunch of bad timming injuries, he’d probably be on this squad already. I’m not sure if anyone remembers, but he had a nice cup of coffee up here a few years back, then suffered a broken arm or something and was done for the season. A solid callup, I’m sorry we won’t get a chance to see him in action. My guess is the Rangers’ brass is trying to make a call on him, now that he’s been with the club for three or four years. If he makes an impact, I’d say he’s next behind Pock to make the team.

  5. I swear you people are certifiably insane. You jump up and down complaining about kids not being on the roster and what do you do when one gets called?? Complain more about who they called up.Insatiable.

  6. P4B as usual you’re competely lost an Ahl lifer got called up not a kid that can help like Baranka or Giradi.

  7. I don’t know if I would describe Lampman as an AHL lifer, because I haven’t gotten a good enough look at him at the NHL level, but from I have seen I was not totally impressed, granted the Rangers teams at the times he was called up were pretty pathetic. But I would like to see Girardi and Baranka get some time to develop in the NHL as opposed to giving Lampman another shot.

At this point I am willing to look at anyone other than Kaspir. Rachunek one shift will make you happy he is on the team and then the next shift will make some blind, careless pass in his own zone and make you wish he was elsewhere. I’m hoping for some more consitency on the back line. IN addition, has anyone else noticed that our defenseman are hardly ever in position to keep the puck in at the blueline? I keep waiting for a defenseman to keep the puck in or challenge the opossing player at their blueline and our defenseman are back at the red line.

  8. At 24 years old , how can anyone be an AHL Lifer??? Are you like 18 years old? Where do you come up with this stuff?

  9. p4b I meant a future Ahl lifer as he’s shown next to nothing so far. If anyone’s 18 or under it’s you finding a typo to be the funniest thing ever!

  10. Anyway he’s not even gonna play because god knows the racoon adds so much to the team, and Kaspar at this point is nothing but a pylon. Josh who’s in net tonight?

  11. I dunno, Lampman doesn’t excite me, but here’s the thing. We complain about how some young guys don’t get enough of a chance to prove anything at the NHL level, and yet we are ready to write off Lampman who had one game (and not very many minutes) last year and 8 games with the AHL Rangers post deadline 2004. I’m willing to give him a shot if he gets in the lineup. I still think he might be a part of a trade, since he doesn’t seem to be in the long term plans (as opposed to Staal, Baranka and Girardi, not to mention Sauer and Sanguinetti).

  12. IM NO HOCKEY EXPERT BUT I GOTTA SAY TOM RENNEY IS A HELL OF A COACH! PNB YOURE THE ONLY ONE HERE THAT GETS IT THE KIDS ARE FINE IF NOT SATHER WILL MAKE A GOOD TRADE FOR A VET HAS HE LKET US DOWN YET?? WILDCARD MY MAN YOU ROCK BABYEE ANYWAY STOP WITH THE NEGATIVE STUFF IT’S ALL GOOD.

  13. From Zipay’s Blog:

“But the reassuring, public face that Renney shows probably not reflect his personal feelings. After the Islanders loss, the word is, a concerned Renney and his coaches sought out assistant GM Don Maloney and asked for reinforcements and changes and President Glen Sather walked in on the meeting and told everyone to calm down.”

    Oh, Slats, always so wise…

    you suck.

  14. Zipay forgot to mention that they all ate cake afterword and forgot about all of their problems.

  15. yeah, Stogiepuss waltzed in and said “ixnay on changes, eh?”

and then he took off for Palm Springs for another in-season vacation.

Typos are when you transpose letters or misspell..not leave out adjectives and complete words.
