Rangers 0, Penguins 0.
A couple of quick hits:
— There doesn’t seem to be reason to be concerned about Jagr. The Big Fella had been trying out new skates this morning, and obviously something was again bothering him in that department at the end of the first period. Good thing Marcel Hossa was there to take his spot. I’m sure most of you at home couldn’t tell the difference.
— The woeful power play aside (I wonder if certain players on the Rangers know they’re allowed to shoot) the Rangers at least seem to have more energy than they did two nights ago. The guy I continue to be impressed by is Matt Cullen, who in 18 previous games against the Penguins, has six goals and 12 assists. On a couple of shifts already, Cullen seemed poised to add to that total.
— You can say the same for Thomas Pock, who did plug in one during power play shift and generated a decent scoring opportunity. Maybe you want to see more of him. At this rate, especially with the likes of Michal Rozsival serving as nothing more than passive observers, you probably will.
