I just went for a run in near-80 degree temperatures, which means either:
A) I am currently in Ecuador, or..
B) The hockey season is set to open in most un-hockey-like conditions.
I suppose this is only fitting given that baseball is dominating the sports dialogue these days anyway, but us hockey devotees will soldier on regardless, especially now that the season is finally upon us.
With that in mind, you may be interested in my “NHL overview story”:http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061004/SPORTS01/610040352/1034/SPORTS that talks about how the league is faring one year after the end of the lockout, and “a look at how the Rangers have flourished”:http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061004/SPORTS01/610040360/1046/SPORTS since hockey’s return.
I’ll have more on this issue later, but in the meantime, thanks to everyone who offered insights on these topics. I hope you’ll excuse the “Mr. Holland’s Opus”-like cheesy sentiment, but I continue to learn from you just as you hopefully learn from me.
I’m off to practice, where I’ll hopefully have more on what tomorrow night’s lineup might look like…
