Greetings from the Mausoleum, where my view in the press box is currently overlooking the Islanders Ice Dancers working through their pre-game practice. No truth to the rumor one of them is next in line for the Islanders head coaching job.
Incidentally, when I walked in this afternoon after braving typical Long Island Expressway traffic, I was only a step behind back-up goaltender-turned-general-manager Garth Snow. It turns out he and I have a lot in common, which is to say, a few months back, neither of us appeared qualified to be overseeing a National Hockey League franchise. I’m still bitter that I never got an interview.
Anyway, not a lot to report early on, other than the home team looks exceptionally sharp and will certainly be crowd-pleasers this season. Of course, I’m talking about the Ice Dancers. The Islanders themselves are probably going to be awful.
OK. That’s all for now, back with more later…
